Leads the product graphics function across all global clubs and accessories. Translates brand strategy into manufacturable graphic systems, ensuring design quality, color fidelity, and production feasibility. Partners with the Director of Industrial Design, Industrial Designers, R&D, Product Management, Sourcing, Quality, and Brand to deliver on-time, vendor-ready artwork and documentation while coaching a team of designers and driving continuous improvement in tools, processes, and standards.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and lead a high-performing team of product graphic designers; define the vision, standards, and design systems for product families; manage resource and capacity.
- Partner with the Director of Industrial Design, industrial designers, R&D engineers to align briefs, milestones, and manufacturability requirements; run design reviews and approvals.
- Oversee creation of graphics for logos, graphical decals, pad print details, laser etching artwork, sticker and labels; guide packaging dielines, labeling, and compliance marks; deliver vendor-ready artwork files (.AI/.PDF).
- Own color libraries and master standards; set tolerances for ink, paint, film, and finish; ensure color management across substrates and suppliers.
- Define specification details (placements, tolerances, callouts); preflight and prepress files; review proofs and first-article samples; support pilot builds and PP meetings.
- Maintain graphics specifications and version control in TCUA Siemens PLM system; ensure data integrity and change management.
- Communicate technical requirements; troubleshoot process issues; evaluate supplier capability and sample quality; drive continuous improvement and sustainability in graphic designs.
- Coach, develop, and performance manage team; recruit as needed.
- Coordinate with Legal on trademarks and regulatory markings.
- Standardize templates, libraries, and automation for variants; optimize workflows and tool adoption; lead retrospectives to reduce cycle time.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES)
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign; strong typography, iconography, and layout and original artwork proficiencies.
- Strong proficiency with PLM and DAM systems (e.g., Centric, Siemens TCUA) and workflow tools (e.g., Jira/Asana); rigorous file naming, and organization skills.
- Color management across substrates; tolerance setting, and vendor proofing.
- Knowledge of print processes: pad print, screen print, digital transfer, hot stamp, decals, laser etch, emboss/deboss; packaging dielines.
- Ability to read engineering drawings; familiarity with CAD for packaging and part callouts; understanding of basic printing layouts and dielines for placement consistency.
- 3D visualization/rendering tools (e.g., KeyShot,) and motion/animation basics are a plus.
- Strong project planning, prioritization, and communication skills; ability to lead design reviews and cross-functional alignment.
- Continuous improvement mindset and a strong passion for graphic design.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in product graphics or packaging for consumer products with mass manufacturing experience; Minimum 3 years leading or managing designers.
- Demonstrated experience translating brand strategy into manufacturable graphics across multiple product lines.
- Portfolio required showcasing production-ready artwork, prepress excellence, and measurable impact on delivery quality and timing.
- Experience in sporting goods, footwear, hardgoods, or related industries preferred.
