Working as part of a cross-functional team you lead the RDQ activities required to complete new product development and maintain portfolios and/or productivity projects keeping in mind the goal to deliver the desired consumer experience.
How you will contribute
You will work independently to plan, lead and coordinate technical projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements You will effectively communicate status and risks and plan, lead and coordinate pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In addition, you will plan, lead and coordinate development activities (e.g. product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation. etc.). To provide direction for product development, you will use digital simulation models to obtain, understand and interpret consumer insights and commercial information. In this role, you will create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications and be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions made from analysis and interpretation of results.

What you need to know about this position:
  • You lead multiple complex development projects simultaneously to deliver product solutions aiming to sustain competitive advantage for our Biscuit & Baked Snacks (B&BS) brands and are a key member of our R&D MENAP B&BS Team. You lead for each project all R&D activities needed to complete new product development, renovation, quality improvement, and business continuity & develop product bundles for short, medium and long term (always securing the desired consumer experience).

  • You are, as well, a trusted R&D partner as part of the MENAP B&BS Team in our successful MENAP Business Unit. Being a Product Development Manager in B&BS, you serve as a consultant for many technical topics related to B&BS in our labs and plants, supporting our technical community to deliver B&BS that are highly desired by consumers.

  • You are Accountable for delivering complex technical R&D projects. You will work with cross-functional partners to define, initiate and lead development projects to successfully deliver business goals using technical rigor, consumer centricity and best practices while effectively prioritizing your workload. Influencing skills are important in this role because you will use them to educate project stakeholders about technical risks, ensuring mitigation plans, clear communication and understanding to allow for effective cross-functional decision making. You will also create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications.

  • As a senior technical leader, you demonstrate high levels of technical rigor and expertise by tapping into internal and external resources to stay up to date on the latest best practices and to continuously identify opportunities for improvement, keeping in mind consumers' desires and needs. As a senior technical leader, you coach junior team members & others to ensure highest team performance, to grow capability and support career development.

  • As senior technical leader, you provide the BU interface with region and global R&D community of practice teams to ensure global platforms, expertise, insights, policies and best practices are shared with teams and support the MENAP BU Strategy.

Education / Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in food related technical field (Food Science, Chemical engineering, or other relevant applied sciences).

Job specific requirements:
  • 5-10 years in related technical area (product/process development) with demonstrated cross-category (& ideally cross-geography experience) and understanding of business linkages in a global operating model
  • 5+ years of experience in leading technical projects
  • Experience working in cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams operating in a dynamic, outcome-oriented environment
  • Strong technical background and effective communication skills, including proven ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to coach on technical topics in a remote environment
  • Multi-disciplinary experience within R&D functions is highly advantageous
  • Good marketing and financial business acumen is highly advantageous
