SUMMARY

Food Sourcing Manager is responsible for food acquisition and donor relations. He/she is directly responsible for the development, cultivation and retention of long-term existing food donors and sourcing new prospective donors. This role creates and manages the process of procuring packaged food, fresh produce, protein and dairy from distributors, manufacturers, processors and farmers. The goal of this position is to increase local food donations by working with current and potential donors to make Feeding Tampa Bay their primary food donation choice, this position impacts the amount and types of food brought into the organization.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of Feeding Tampa Bay
  • Cultivate current, active food donor relationships and create new donor opportunities with the goal of increasing quality food item donation consistency, poundage, and frequency.  Nurture within donors an awareness and understanding of the mutual business benefits of quality donating.
  • Collaborate with Feeding America and member food banks Food Sourcing, Donor Stewardship and Affiliate Services departments to forecast and ensure the food needs of the food bank and the target communities are met.
  • Work closely with the Director of  Procurement to develop and implement a yearly work plan for food acquisition based on strategic planning, including procurement strategies in sourcing additional donations from new, lapsed and current donors, engage in donor negotiations including donor recognition activities, performance metrics, and annual outcomes/goals all while ensuring alignment of objectives with FTB’s mission and guiding principles. 
  • Implement and manage donor and donation maintenance processes, including receipting, reporting, evaluating and tracking and developing SOPs around those processes.
  • Face to face meetings in our 10 county service area and presentations as well as cold calls with current and prospective donors to secure a variety of donations. 
  • Create and deploy an updated comprehensive food donor education presentation for prospective donors.
  • Utilize Salesforce, a donor tracking system, which should include a contact management tool, ability to run donor reports for tracking trends and volume, and a donor acknowledgement component, Food Donor Receipting
  • Provide professional, responsive and appreciative customer service to all food industry partners, donors, and co-workers. 
  • Assure daily maintenance and review of Feeding America Choice System offerings and available shares.
  • Responsive to food donor calls and web site inquiries regarding food donations and coordinating the logistics of those donations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to maximize donation opportunities; including regular strategy meetings with operations, programs and agency relations. 
  • Track donations weekly by current donors, return of lapsed donors, and prospects turned to donors. Consider tracking product categories. 
  • Generate monthly reports, in conjunction with the Director of Procurement regarding product receipt, donations, and other food sourcing and donor engagement projects assigned.
  • Coordinate and complete relevant reports, including NAR, QPR, Legacy Dashboard data etc.
  • Collaborate with and educate Operations staff to ensure informed decision making on donor engagement, procurement, logistics and transportation.
  • Expedite information dissemination concerning product handling and restrictions, withdrawals, and recalls to the Operations team and agencies.
  • Advocates for and recommend necessary process improvements to align with organizational goals.
  • Attend food safety classes and receive ServSafe certification. Keep certification current.
  • This position is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Excel working in a fast-paced, evolving environment and demonstrate the ability to embrace the FTB’s commitment to treat all people with equity and respect in pursuit of our mission to feed people in need and mobilize our community to eliminate hunger
  • College degree preferred  (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree)
  • Minimum of two years sales or fundraising experience.  Food industry experience preferred. 
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills 
  • Strong written, analytical, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to travel, current valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Skills Required

  • Minimum of two years sales or fundraising experience

  • Ability to travel within a multi-county service area, valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle
