The Manager, Pricing and Demand serves as the key commercial leader for an assigned cruise portfolio, responsible for developing and executing pricing, inventory, demand generation, and promotional strategies that maximize revenue and profitability. This role partners closely with Revenue Management, Marketing, Sales, and senior leadership to optimize booking performance, drive market competitiveness, and achieve revenue targets across assigned products and itineraries. The Manager leads the commercial planning and product announcement process, establishes strategic pricing assumptions, and oversees the development of inventory and promotional strategies based on market conditions, booking trends, and competitive intelligence. Through advanced analysis of demand patterns, deployment changes, promotion performance, and customer behavior, the role provides data-driven recommendations that support revenue growth and informed business decisions. As a trusted commercial partner, the Manager collaborates across departments to ensure effective product positioning, marketing visibility, and sales readiness. The position also plays a critical role in evaluating itinerary changes, recommending guest compensation strategies when necessary, identifying new product opportunities, and supporting the development of future cruise offerings. This role has a direct impact on the financial performance of the assigned cruise portfolio and requires strong analytical, strategic, and leadership capabilities. Responsibilities:

Pricing Strategy & Revenue Optimization

  • Serve as the commercial owner for assigned cruise products, developing pricing strategies that maximize revenue, profitability, and yield performance.

  • Establish strategic pricing assumptions and inventory plans based on demand forecasts, booking pace, market conditions, and business objectives.

  • Partner with Revenue Management teams to ensure pricing and inventory decisions are accurately implemented and optimized.

  • Monitor booking performance and revenue results, recommending pricing adjustments and corrective actions to achieve financial goals.

Demand Generation & Commercial Performance

  • Lead commercial planning activities for assigned portfolios, aligning pricing, promotions, sales, and marketing efforts to drive demand.

  • Develop pricing strategies for major promotional campaigns and ensure alignment with broader commercial objectives.

  • Analyze booking trends, consumer demand patterns, and promotion effectiveness to identify opportunities for revenue growth.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to ensure key products receive appropriate visibility, positioning, and support across channels.

Market Analysis & Strategic Insights

  • Conduct ongoing analysis of booking trends, deployment performance, competitive pricing, and industry developments.

  • Provide ad hoc analysis and strategic recommendations to senior leadership regarding revenue performance, demand outlook, and business opportunities.

  • Evaluate market conditions and customer preferences to identify risks, opportunities, and emerging trends.

  • Support deployment and itinerary planning decisions through data-driven insights and commercial recommendations.

Product & Portfolio Management

  • Lead the product announcement process for assigned cruise products and itineraries.

  • Manage the commercial impact of itinerary and deployment changes, including guest compensation recommendations when required.

  • Identify opportunities for new product features, itinerary enhancements, and revenue-generating initiatives.

  • Support research and analysis efforts designed to measure product appeal, customer satisfaction, and marketing effectiveness.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary commercial liaison across Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, and senior leadership for assigned products.

  • Provide product, pricing, and commercial strategy training to Sales and Marketing teams.

  • Influence decision-making through effective communication of analytical insights, recommendations, and business cases.

  • Foster collaboration among stakeholders to ensure alignment with company revenue goals and commercial priorities.

  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies, financial controls, audit requirements, and compliance standards.

The role partners closely with Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, and senior leadership to develop and execute commercial plans that optimize booking performance and maximize profitability. This position oversees the product announcement process, supports deployment and itinerary planning decisions, and ensures alignment between pricing strategies and broader business objectives for assigned products and sailings.

  • Problem solving: This role is responsible for evaluating complex business challenges related to fluctuating demand, booking trends, market competition, inventory utilization, and changing consumer preferences. The Manager must analyze large volumes of performance data and market intelligence to identify risks and opportunities, determine root causes of variances from revenue goals, and recommend pricing, promotional, or inventory adjustments. The position regularly provides data-driven recommendations regarding deployment changes, itinerary impacts, promotional effectiveness, and guest compensation strategies, balancing revenue objectives with guest satisfaction and brand considerations.

  • Impact: The decisions made by the Manager, Pricing and Demand have a direct and measurable impact on the revenue, profitability, and market performance of Holland America Line's cruise portfolio. Effective pricing, inventory, and demand generation strategies influence booking volumes, yield optimization, occupancy levels, and overall financial results. Through ongoing analysis of market conditions, competitive activity, and booking performance, the role helps drive informed business decisions that strengthen market position, improve commercial effectiveness, and support the achievement of both short- and long-term revenue objectives.                        

  • Leadership: The Manager provides commercial leadership and strategic direction across a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment. The role works closely with Revenue Management analysts and managers, while serving as a key partner to Sales, Marketing, and senior leadership teams. Success requires the ability to influence stakeholders, communicate complex insights in a clear and actionable manner, and build alignment around pricing and demand strategies. The Manager also supports the development of organizational capability through product, pricing, and commercial training, ensuring teams are equipped to effectively position and sell assigned products in support of company goals.

 

Essential/Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience in data analysis and forecasting.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.

 

Essential Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product development, pricing strategy, or revenue management.

  • Experience in the cruise industry or a related field is highly desirable.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful pricing strategies.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet continuous deadlines.

 

Travel: Less than 25% with shipboard travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

 

This is a hybrid position, based in our Seattle office. Candidates must be comfortable coming into the office 4 days/week (currently Monday-Thursday)

  • Base Salary Range: $80,169 to $99,900 The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidate’s qualifications and experience uniquely.
