The Role and What You’ll Do: 

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Manager, PR & Communications specializing in consumer and sports media to join our team. This contracted role will support and execute communication strategies that amplify our messages across traditional earned media platforms for our FIFA World Cup 2026™ business. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of both consumer and sports media landscapes, with experience crafting press plans and strategy. 

 

  • Strategic Planning & Execution Develop and implement communications strategies that position the brand favorably within consumer and sports media outlets. Craft messaging that resonates with target audiences, enhances brand visibility, and drives engagement across multiple channels. 

  • Media Relations Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, influencers, and sports industry stakeholders. Act as a primary point of contact for media inquiries, interviews, and press conferences. Secure coverage in high-impact consumer and sports media. 

  • Content Creation & Storytelling Create compelling press materials, including press releases, media pitches, and other PR documents and content. Ensure that all content aligns with the brand messaging and engages both sports fans and broader consumer audiences. 

  • Crisis Communication Assist in managing communications during sensitive or high-pressure situations, providing clear, concise messaging to protect and enhance the brand's reputation. 

  • Influencer Engagement Experience working with social media and cultural influencers on campaigns for brands, negotiating contracts, understanding value, and maintaining relationships while ensuring contracts are executed. 

  • Event Planning & Coordination Lead the communications efforts for events, sponsorships, and partnerships, including press conferences, product launches, sports activations, and athlete partnerships. 

  • Analysis & Reporting Monitor media coverage, track key performance metrics, and analyze media sentiment to measure the success of communication campaigns. Provide regular reports to senior leadership on campaign performance. 

  • Team Collaboration Work closely with cross-functional teams including PR, marketing, commercial strategy, sales, and legal to ensure alignment on communications goals and messaging across the organization. 

 

Key Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. 

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, media relations, or public relations, with a focus on consumer and sports media. 

  • Deep understanding of the sports media landscape, including trends, audience preferences, and industry dynamics. 

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with media professionals and industry influencers. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for crafting clear, engaging narratives. 

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously. 

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, particularly within consumer-facing or sports-related organizations. 

  • Knowledge of analytics and media monitoring tools and platforms. 

  • Ability to adapt messaging for various audiences, including sports fans, consumers, and industry stakeholders. 

  • Experience working with influencers and cultivating influencer programs for brands. 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience working with sports teams, athletes, or major sports events. 

  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities a plus (English, Spanish, French) 

 

Travel Requirements 

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed, particularly to host cities and key markets during the lead-up and throughout the World Cup event.

Per local requirements and in the interest of transparency, the range shown below reflects the prevalent current hiring range for this position. Hiring pay rates are based on a number of factors, including location and may vary depending on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience. The company strives to provide locally competitive rewards packages, which include base rate along with, as applicable, short- and long-term incentives, growth and developmental opportunities, and robust benefits, such as health care, retirement, vacation and other paid time off, and additional offerings.


Hiring Range Minimum:

$75,000 annually

Hiring Range Maximum:

$100,000 annually
