Silgan Closures is seeking an experienced Plant Human Resources Manager to join our manufacturing facility in New Castle, PA. This onsite HR Manager role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management, including employee relations, recruiting, benefits administration, HR compliance, onboarding, performance management, and safety program coordination.

As a trusted member of the plant leadership team, the Plant Human Resources Manager will partner with employees and management to support workforce initiatives, maintain compliance with federal and state employment laws, drive employee engagement, and foster a positive workplace culture within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What you’ll do:

As the Plant Human Resources Manager, you will lead a broad range of HR functions and provide strategic and operational support to employees and leadership.

                Human Resources Leadership

  • Manage daily human resources operations for the New Castle, PA manufacturing facility
  • Partner with plant leadership to support business objectives, employee engagement, and workforce planning
  • Promote a positive work environment while ensuring alignment with company policies and procedures

        Employee Relations

  • Provide guidance and support regarding employee relations matters
  • Assist leaders in resolving workplace issues while maintaining compliance and consistency
  • Foster strong employee communication and engagement initiatives

Benefits Administration

  • Serve as the site Benefits Administrator for hourly employees
  • Administer employee benefit programs and assist employees with benefit-related questions
  • Conduct new hire orientations and benefit enrollment sessions
  • Process, maintain, and update benefit records and enrollment information

HR Compliance & Employment Law

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain compliance regarding:
  • Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements
  • Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) regulations
  • Department of Labor (DOL) standards
  • Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)
  • Immigration and employment eligibility requirements
  • ADA, ADEA, wage and hour laws, and workers' compensation regulations

               

HR Systems & Administration

  • Maintain and update employee records within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS)
  • Process employee status changes, compensation updates, training records, address changes, and benefit information
  • Maintain accurate documentation and personnel files

Unemployment & Employee Support

  • Manage unemployment claims and appeal hearings
  • Gather and provide appropriate documentation and represent the company when required
  • Support employee onboarding, offboarding, and workforce transitions

What you’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, employee relations, and benefits administration
  • Experience with recruiting, onboarding, talent acquisition, and workforce management
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
