Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate lifecycle management are vital to Pfizer's cybersecurity posture and operational resilience. The Manager, PKI Engineer, is responsible for developing, managing, and continuously improving Pfizer's enterprise PKI environment, including Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM), certificate renewal automation, and related security services.
This is a hands-on technical role responsible for supporting PKI technologies and ensuring secure, scalable certificate services across the enterprise. The role includes requirements gathering, technical design, development, testing, implementation support, operational oversight, and break/fix support for PKI services, partnering closely with the Service Manager, Operations Delivery Lead, internal customers, and technical teams.
The Manager will guide technical resources, help drive service improvements, and foster a culture where innovation, reliability, and security are central to how the team operates.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and support enterprise Public Key Infrastructure services, including Microsoft Certificate Authority multi-node PKI environments and certificate-related services.
- Design, develop, and deploy secure technology solutions that meet business requirements, technical specifications, defined procedures, and information security policies.
- Operate independently in complex or ambiguous situations to help deliver objectives across business units and technology teams.
- Integrate applications and third-party products with internal PKI services, including ongoing support, upgrades, and service enhancements.
- Partner with stakeholders to anticipate challenges, address concerns, and influence positive outcomes for the organization.
- Lead technical and operational activities within and across teams to ensure reliable service delivery.
- Collaborate with internal teams, customers, the Service Manager, and the Operations Delivery Lead to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain reusable service patterns that support secure application integration and improved end-user experiences.
- Provide technical direction and oversight for contingent worker resources supporting service enhancements, operational improvements, and project delivery.
- Support 24x7 oversight of business-as-usual operations for critical PKI services.
- Lead or support Incident andProblem Management activities in alignment with ITIL practices.
- Serve as a trusted technical resource and mentor to help strengthen team capability and support organizational growth
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
- 4+ years of infrastructure support and management experience in an enterprise environment.
- Deep technical understanding of Public Key Infrastructure, including Certificate Authority, Registration Authority, Remote Key Management, Hardware Security Modules, and Security Worlds.
- Experience with digital signatures, including internally and externally provisioned certificates.
- 2+ years of technical experience leading the work of system administrators, operations support teams, architects, or software developers.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical material to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience managing medium- to large-scale, global IT deployments of enterprise Identity and Access Management solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or other regulated industry.
- Advanced security certifications.
- Software design and development experience in one or more languages such as Java, Python, or C++.
