Job Summary & Responsibilities
Primary Purpose
Operates and maintains transmission pipelines typically within a geographic area. Coordinates inspection of pipelines, corrosion control, coordination of construction and/or maintenance, and project documentation. Ensures that all policies and procedures for safe operations are maintained and trains personnel on all procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages pipeline operations personnel to ensure optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and adherence to established operational standards.
- Designs, implements, and continuously improves training programs to ensure teams are proficient in current safety protocols, operational procedures, and industry regulations.
- Manages the design and modification of gas transmission pipelines and facilities to support in-line inspection (ILI) capabilities, ensuring pipeline integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Plans and manages preventive and corrective maintenance activities to enhance system reliability and minimize operational downtime.
- Develops, updates, and enforces comprehensive operational procedures and manuals to promote safe, efficient, and standardized pipeline operations.
- Manages third-party contractors engaged in pipeline construction, maintenance, and inspection, ensuring high-quality execution and strict adherence to safety and compliance standards.
- Manages relationships with key internal and external stakeholders—including regulatory bodies, contractors, and suppliers—to align on operational goals and ensure transparent communication.
- Manages the implementation of environmental initiatives aimed at reducing the ecological footprint of pipeline operations, including waste reduction and pollution control programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience
- Typically requires 8 years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Pipeline Operations Management - Enabling the safe and efficient operation of energy pipelines.
- Inspection Management - A critical process of quality control that involves measuring, examining, and reviewing materials against standard requirements to ensure materials or components conform to the standards and latest guidelines.
- Corrosion Control - Implementing processes and methods of combating corrosion by protecting metals against corrosion.
- Maintenance Management - Management of activities such as repair work, servicing, replacing, inspecting and testing.
- Project/Program Management - The process of leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time.
- Health & Safety Management - Designing, developing and implementing formal management systems that can help manage health and safety.
- Regulatory Compliance - Ensuring an organization's adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines and specifications relevant to its business processes.
- Documentation & Records Management - Creating, distributing, using, maintaining and disposition of recorded information maintained as evidence of business activities and transactions.
- Emergency Response Management - The coordination and management of resources and responsibilities pertaining to the mitigation of, preparedness for, response to, and recovery from an emergency.
- Standards Management - Sets standards correctly and efficiently, and adheres to them.
