The Squarespace Payments Operations & Risk team is growing. We're looking for a manager that has a background in fraud/risk in either Payments, Merchant Risk, FinTech, online marketplaces, or similar digital businesses. You will lead a team of analysts and work with Product, Engineering, Customer Operations, Security, and Trust & Safety teams to ensure that fraudulent and high risk behavior is identified and reduced on the platform.

You will report to the Director of Payment Operations & Risk and have the option of working from our New York City headquarters (hybrid) or remotely (within the U.S.).

You'll Get To…

  • Partner with Payments & Risk leadership to contribute to the development of a risk department which may include things like process or product improvements, documentation, and the development of standardized procedures
  • Help in the design and development of a internal and external risk tools, manage risk rules to identify balance of fraud mitigation and user experience
  • Manage and develop a new team of Risk Analysts
  • Investigate/resolve escalated cases of account suspensions
  • Conduct merchant risk assessments and transaction level reviews
  • Make decisions to approve/reject/escalate users for further information
  • Partner with Customer Operations & Legal teams to resolve escalated client issues
  • Identify fraud rings and patterns of abuse
  • Investigate/resolve payment related issues or exceptions

Who We're Looking For…

  • 7+ years of experience in fraud/risk in either e-commerce, FinTech, online marketplaces, or similar digital businesses
  • 3+ years of experience managing, coaching, and leading a dispersed fraud/risk team of 5 or more
  • You've previously built, or have been heavily involved in the building of, a risk operations program
  • Knowledge of payment processing, underwriting, financial statements, and embedded Payments products
  • You have experience working with fraud and risk tools like Sift, Kount, Accertify, etc. and feel comfortable learning and exploring new software to improve our service
  • You have experience using data to back up assumptions and make recommendations
  • You're collaborative and know how to connect the dots between teams and manage cross-functional initiatives
  • Ability to assess merchant risk outside of fraud (credit, reputational, legal, etc,)
  • Familiar with merchant risk concepts such as: card cashing, collusion, no intent to ship, etc.

Cash Compensation Range: $135,500 - $239,200 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), all Squarespace employees are eligible to receive equity in the company as part of their total compensation.
