How you’ll make an impact:Carter’s has completed a major phase of MarTech platform migration and transformation. We are now entering a critical phase of stabilization, optimization, and value realization across our customer communications ecosystem.
As the Operations Manager of MarTech, you will be responsible for owning and optimizing the technology platforms that power Carter’s customer communications across email and related channels. You will serve as the connective tissue between Customer Communications, IT, Data, and external MarTech vendors, ensuring that platforms are stable, well‑governed, and evolving in ways that unlock business value and improve customer experience.
This role reports into the Director, Customer Communications, has 2 direct reports, and is based in our Buckhead office on site 4 days/week.
WHAT YOU’LL DO40%: Product Ownership & Optimization- Own the MarTech platforms that support customer communications (e.g., ESP and orchestration tools), with a focus on stability, performance, and optimization
- Manage the product roadmap and backlog, prioritizing enhancements, optimizations, and technical improvements based on business impact, risk reduction, and customer experience
- Continuously evaluate platform health, reliability, and performance, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement
- Lead intake, grooming, and prioritization of MarTech work across multiple stakeholders
- Define clear functional requirements and success criteria for enhancements and optimizations
- Serve as the translator between technical and non‑technical teams to ensure shared understanding and smooth execution
- Ensure MarTech platforms operate in alignment with Carter’s data governance, privacy, and security standards
- Partner with Data team to maintain clean data flows, consistent definitions, and reliable customer identifiers
- Help establish and reinforce best practices for platform usage, documentation, and operational governance
- Partner closely with Customer Communications to translate campaign and lifecycle needs into scalable, repeatable platform capabilities
- Work in tight collaboration with IT and Data teams to manage integrations, data flows, identity resolution, and platform dependencies
- Act as a key liaison with external technology vendors, driving accountability, roadmap alignment, and issue resolution
- 4+ years of experience in product management or marketing technology role
- Hands‑on experience working with customer communications platforms (e.g., ESPs, orchestration tools, CDPs, analytics integrations)
- Demonstrated product thinking, with a focus on stability, scalability, and operational excellence
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non‑technical partners
- Comfort working in agile environments, including backlog management and iterative delivery
- Analytical mindset, with the ability to use data to inform decisions and optimization opportunities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence operating in cross‑functional forums
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail, follow‑through, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Leadership experience, including mentoring junior team members, supporting day‑to‑day execution, and helping set clear priorities and expectations across a small product or MarTech pod
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar work‑management platforms
- Familiarity with cloud‑based data systems and modern MarTech architectures
- Retail, e‑commerce, or consumer‑facing brand experience
