WHAT YOU’LL DO 

The Manager, Operations positions Teach For America Missouri for success by providing high-quality execution of regional operations, events, and communications. In this role, you will bring plans to life by managing logistics, timelines, and details with precision. This position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, a self-starter, and energized by executing event plans and social media strategies created in partnership with regional leadership.

You will be the engine behind our signature events, digital communications, and office systems, ensuring every detail is handled smoothly and consistently. If you thrive on checklists, timelines, and seeing plans through from start to finish, this role is for you.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

Event Execution & Project Management (30%)

  • Partner with team members to set vision for and execute all operational logistics for regional events, such as summer pre-service and practicum catering and supply support, the annual Summer Party, the annual Winter Party, network summits, staff meetings, retreats, and celebrations, as well as alumni, donor, and community-facing events.

  • Manage end-to-end event planning, including setting vision, securing venues, coordinating catering, ordering supplies, managing run of show, setting up and breaking down spaces, tracking attendance, and ensuring a high-quality participant experience.

  • Provide ongoing catering and supply support for recurring meetings and programming throughout the year, ensuring consistent quality and timely delivery.

  • Track event timelines, budgets, and vendor communications to ensure all details are executed on time and within budget.

  • Support teammates through short-cycle assignments by executing logistics and project plans for cross-functional initiatives.

Marketing & Communications (25%)

  • Set and execute the regional communications strategy by managing Teach For America Kansas City social media accounts, including scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and ensuring consistent, on-brand content.

  • Draft, edit, and publish newsletters and email communications for alumni, corps members, and partners, ensuring content is timely, engaging, and aligned with regional priorities.

  • Proactively gather photos, stories, and updates from staff and constituents to support digital storytelling efforts.

  • Maintain content calendars and publishing schedules to ensure consistent outreach throughout the year.

  • Partner with enterprise teams to execute key marketing initiatives

Office Operations & Maintenance (15%)

  • Execute office operations and maintenance plans, including coordinating building maintenance needs, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming workspace.

  • Manage office supply inventory and procurement processes to ensure staff have the materials and technology needed to perform their roles effectively.

  • Process invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports in alignment with finance policies and timelines.

Data & Systems Execution (15%)

  • Execute day-to-day management of regional data tracking systems, including corps member data, certification tracking, and partner school paperwork and compliance documentation.

  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and organization of all regional data systems through regular audits and updates.

  • Create and maintain processes that improve data visibility and cross-team collaboration.

  • Flag trends, gaps, or risks in data systems to regional leadership and recommend process improvements.

Organizational Stewardship (15%)

  • Support region-wide and organization-wide initiatives by executing logistics for programming, meetings, and special projects.

  • Participate in Corps Member and Ignite Fellow interviews, selection processes, and onboarding as needed.

  • Represent Teach For America Kansas City at regional events and partner meetings as requested.

A WEEK IN THE LIFE 

Your week might include finalizing catering orders for a corps member event, setting up rooms for staff meetings, scheduling social posts, updating corps member tracking systems, and prepping supplies for upcoming events. You’ll execute plans created by leadership, anticipate needs, and solve problems in real time to ensure everything runs smoothly.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • Demonstrated success executing operations, logistics, or event management, with a strong track record of follow-through and attention to detail.

  • Highly organized with proven time management skills and experience building systems to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including experience drafting content for email and social media.

  • Experience maintaining data tracking and knowledge management systems with a high level of accuracy.

  • Proactive self-starter who takes ownership of tasks and consistently sees projects through to completion.

  • Willingness to work occasional evening or weekend hours to support events and programming.

  • Ability to travel within the KC Metro area

  • Demonstrated commitment to and belief in Teach For America’s mission, theory of change, and core values.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

BONUS (preferred qualifications)

  • Previous experience in K–12 education or working with Teach For America.

  • At least 3 years of professional work experience with a strong record of results.

  • Experience managing social media accounts or digital communications.

  • Background in event planning, hospitality, or community engagement.

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Salary Tier A: $55,700 - 74,500
