Alter Trading Corporation is seeking a Manager of Operations Strategic Analysis to join our team in St. Louis!

Job Summary

The Manager of Operations Strategic Analysis supports the SVP Operations in the assessment and analysis of operational and financial data throughout the organization in an effort to increase production and efficiency. The person filling this role must be a self-starter with sufficient interest and curiosity to dig deep into the operations and the data to find opportunities and efficiencies. This person is also responsible for gathering, evaluating and standardizing measurement systems and reporting for production operations; performs a wide variety of financial analysis, research and data driven strategies for communication to Sr. management with the ultimate objective to increase long-term profitability. This position will have high profile exposure to the executive team and long-term opportunities for growth.

  • Identify growth opportunities internally and externally by analyzing and monitoring competitive solutions and positioning the business to increase market share.
  • Work to impact revenue growth, operating margin, asset efficiency and improve management effectiveness and execution capabilities by driving operational budgets and business plans.
  • Build knowledge of Operations management by identifying and sharing operational trends and analysis to improve their understanding of key drivers impacting the business.
  • Assess ongoing progress of the organization as a whole and drive broad changes and specific improvement initiatives necessary to achieve targeted business outcomes.
  • Drive the direction and implementation of a variety of operational initiatives as defined by SVP of Operations.
  • Will also be responsible for specific cross-functional initiatives that span both operations and shared services.
  • Drive business development by way of supporting due diligence and integration of acquisitions.
  • Connect disparate quantitative and qualitative data points into coherent, evidence-based arguments that support strategy and lead to change.
  • Develop reporting for operations management to measure key operational metrics (output, efficiencies, costs, downtime, etc.).
  • Facilitate target setting and identify projects to achieve those targets. Use standardized tools to verify the attainment of goals established.
  • Leverage successes across multiple regions and facilities.
  • Provide strategic direction for evolution of Operational Strategy & Analysis.
  •  Performs a variety of other responsibilities as assigned or required

Requirements:

  • ​MBA and/or 10 year’s management and operational experience in scrap industry preferred. 
  • Must have advanced skills using the latest Microsoft Office Products. 
  • Must have leadership and influencing skills with a wide range of individuals. 
  • Familiarity with operations improvement tools and methodologies desirable. 
  • Solid skills in finance, statistics, problem solving, and analysis required to solve complex business problems. 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable working with various levels within the organization. 
  • Intellectual curiosity regarding the scrap metal industry required. 
  • Must maintain the highest levels of confidentiality at all times due to the sensitive nature of the role and its responsibilities. 
  • Must have the ability to function well in both a team setting and on a self-directed basis. 
  • Must be able to travel up to 40% annually if required.

Skills Required
