As Manager of Nurse Research for HVTI, you will oversee professional nursing practices and research patient care within the unit, ensuring adherence to research protocols and regulatory standards. You will lead personnel and staff development, coordinate with other departments, monitor the unit budget and supervise a team of research caregivers, including RNs and non-licensed coordinators. In this role, you will direct day-to-day research administrative activities and the section’s research portfolio across imaging, preventive cardiology, clinical cardiology and vascular medicine. This position supports Cleveland Clinic’s research mission, offering the opportunity to lead a team dedicated to advancing patient care through innovative clinical trials.
A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Manage the practice of professional nursing and delivery of research patient care.
Ensure practice of professional nursing and manage delivery of care.
Plan and implement nursing, nutrition, laboratory, administrative and other responsibilities and procedures for all research protocols in coordination with clinical investigators, ensuring availability of appropriate equipment and supplies and scheduling of all research participants.
Identify and resolve issues affecting delivery of research patient care services.
Develop and implement practices and procedures related to the conduct of research protocols and research patient care in accordance with regulatory standards and Cleveland Clinic guidelines.
Monitor the conduct of protocols and data collection efforts to ensure studies are well-controlled and that protocol routines are not violated.
Ensure that legal, privacy and confidentiality measures are in place.
Develop, implement and evaluate annual goals and objectives in conjunction with the Department Administrator.
Market research mission and resources to potential clinical investigators.
Select, supervise, develop and evaluate qualified staff to ensure the research protocols and patient needs are met.
Ensure clinical competence and development of staff.
Ensure compliance with all internal and external professional and regulatory agency standards.
Analyze research operations through a planned quality improvement program.
Ensure fiscal accountability and efficiency of research operations.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing
High degree of clinical expertise in research nursing
Four years of clinical nursing experience including at least one year of clinical research management experience
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills
Knowledgeable of NIH research policies and protocols
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Master's degree in Nursing
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple clinical research activities and resources
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
