We’re on a mission to deliver riveting storytelling for all of America. At The Washington Post, you’ll help reinvent news. Our work is driven by a deep investigative spirit and enhanced by innovation to bring audiences closer to the stories that matter most.
About Our Team
The Washington Post is powered by the passion and talent of our people. It takes all of us to reinvent news. Beyond our award-winning News and Opinions teams, we work across many departments, including Brand & Events, Communications, Customer Care, Engineering & Product, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Marketing & Advertising, Print Operations, and Sales.
Why This Role Matters
The Washington Post is seeking a strategic, creative and collaborative leader to serve as Manager, News Video, helping drive how our journalism reaches audiences across social and video platforms.
This role sits at the center of The Post's off-platform strategy, overseeing a team of social video editors responsible for producing engaging, platform-native journalism for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other emerging platforms. The Manager, News Video will lead editorial strategy, programming and execution, ensuring our video journalism reaches audiences wherever they consume news while upholding The Post's standards for accuracy, creativity and innovation.
We are looking for a leader who sees video as a core journalistic product—not simply a promotional tool—and who understands the rapidly evolving dynamics of social platforms and audience behavior. The ideal candidate combines editorial judgment, audience expertise and operational excellence with the ability to coach journalists, develop new formats and execute a clear vision for audience growth.
Working closely with the Head of Off-Platform Strategy and leaders across the newsroom, this manager will play a central role in shaping the future of The Post's digital video presence.
This position is based in our Washington, D.C., newsroom.

- You are energized by experimentation, collaboration and continuous learning.
How You'll Support the Mission
- Lead and develop a team of social video editors, fostering a collaborative culture centered on creativity, journalistic excellence and continuous improvement.
- Manage daily video programming, staffing and production schedules to ensure the team is positioned to cover major news events and execute long-term priorities.
- Develop quarterly and annual editorial strategies for news video in partnership with newsroom leadership, establishing clear goals and success metrics.
- Identify opportunities for original news video coverage and oversee production from concept through publication, including editing and programming responsibilities when needed.
- Own the editorial strategy and audience growth for The Post's YouTube channels, including news, topical and talent-driven programming.
- Partner closely with Shows, Originals and other newsroom teams to develop and distribute original video journalism across platforms.
- Coach editors and producers on platform-specific best practices, storytelling techniques and emerging video formats.
- Monitor audience engagement and performance across platforms, using data and experimentation to continuously refine strategy and maximize reach.
