THE ROLE
As Manager, Surgery SCP – Endo Mechanical & Energy NPD, you will lead the end-to-end supplier selection process and drive the sourcing strategy for new product development (NPD). This role is responsible for coordinating and enabling sourcing programs that standardize processes and leverage J&J’s scale across direct materials and external manufacturing categories.
You will develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies across product cost, capital, and project timelines for medical device programs, supporting initiatives that span global procurement categories and geographies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business stakeholder engagement with NPD and R&D teams to drive supplier selection, evaluation, and qualification across categories including:
- Instruments, cases/trays, electrical components, plastics, metals, chemicals, packaging, external manufacturing, biologics, and select services
- Manage multiple NPD projects simultaneously across businesses, categories, and geographies
- Ensure compliance with franchise Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, including approval of all associated documentation
- Partner with category procurement teams and R&D leadership to identify unmet needs and execute sourcing strategies aligned to the franchise technology roadmap
- Lead complex supplier negotiations, ensuring favorable commercial terms while coordinating cross-functional stakeholders
- Transition stabilized products, suppliers, and contracts to base business and category teams
- Lead SOURCE due diligence and provide transaction support for business development activities, including product supply, distribution, and acquisitions
- Drive early supplier engagement during product development to optimize cost, quality, innovation, and supply reliability
- Identify and develop strategic supplier capabilities to support future technology and innovation needs

- Proven experience negotiating procurement agreements in partnership with Legal
- Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to drive alignment across stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, sharing knowledge and providing clear project updates (NPD experience preferred)
- Strong project management and execution skills; PMP or FPX certification preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10–20%)

- Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s)
- Certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, PMP, or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
