About the Role:
CrowdStrike is looking for an engineering leader with a solid track record of building and operating optical networks to join our Backbone Network Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and operating our global optical network. You will work closely with other engineering teams to drive the strategy, planning, and execution of our network backbone.
What You'll Do:
- Lead geographically diverse team of engineers in planning, deploying, and maintaining our optical network infrastructure
- Drive strategy to scale network deployment and operation while maintaining consistency and stability
- Partner with other engineering teams to understand near- and long-term plans for network expansion and develop a capacity plan
- Develop dark fiber strategy, secure routes and aid in negotiations
- Oversee evolution of our optical infrastructure to achieve capacity, resiliency, and latency requirements
- Develop reports and collaborate with finance teams to forecast OPEX and ensure cost optimization.
- Develop scripts and tools to automate repetitive tasks to improve velocity
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations
What You Need:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- 10+ years of experience in building and operating multi-vendor optical backbone and metro networks
- 5+ years of managing geographically distributed technical engineering teams
- Experience with CWDM/DWDM optical transport systems including: Nokia, Adva, Ciena, Infinera.
- Experience with carrier fiber vendors, ordering processes and network portfolio maps.
- Experience with IP/MPLS backbone networks
Bonus Points:
- Experience in deploying and supporting connectivity on public cloud, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Familiarity with security control frameworks such as the CIS Critical Security Controls, NIST 800-53, and ISO 27001

The base salary range for this position in the U.S. is $135,000 - $210,000 per year + variable/incentive compensation + equity + benefits.
