Job Summary
Altice USA is seeking a Manager of Network Engineering to lead a team of high-performing network engineers and operators to maintain and improve our complex commercial network. The candidate will play a key role in driving projects related to the design, integration, standardization, and hardware refresh and is responsible for the technical success of these projects. This position will have the opportunity to manage the engineers along with being skilled enough to assist engineers for an escalation and workload overflow. The candidate must be forward thinking and have a vision for the future of the network and team.
Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction for technical projects including new designs, concept designs, and projects available for production
  • Research/analyze/define/propose/design/document/implement network solutions in a large-scale enterprise environment to achieve business objectives
  • Clearly and concisely communicate both written and verbally with executives and business stakeholders
  • Maintain standards documentation including operations manuals, procedural documents, and network diagrams
  • Create yearly budget requirements and present clear justification to upper management
  • Generate and validate ROI and budget calculations for network solutions
  • Provide technical oversight to engineering and operations teams
  • Generate technical presentations based on results of design/sandbox testing and present to upper management
  • Appropriately respond to and successfully deliver ad hoc requests made by the management team
  • Participate in advanced problem resolution
  • Explore automation routines to drive operational efficiencies
  • Manage implementation schedules and ensure proper communication to the business
  • Create custom enterprise solutions for carrier grade customers
  • Provide escalation support and coordinate the team for major outages
  • Perform all roles of engineers that report directly to this position
  • The Network Engineer will be responsible for three key functions of the Technology Operations organization. This includes operationalizing new hardware, new services, and value-add features to Altice Business' production network, maintaining the network infrastructure to ensure Altice Business can continue to provide a stable and feature-rich network to our customers and provides network support to Fulfillment and Operations.
  • The Network Engineer works closely with the Development team to incorporate new hardware and services into the network.
  • Responsible for providing engineering guidelines to Fulfillment and Operations to roll out new hardware and services to our customers.
  • For new services, the engineer will also be responsible for working with the Application Support team to capture the new product requirements in Netcracker and defining the parameters needed for service activation.
  • Responsible for documenting test results, deployment procedures and standards.
  • In addition to a technical role, the candidate must be comfortable project managing and coordinating with other teams on their contributing deliverables to ensure the timely roll out of new services into production.
  • The Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the network is maintained and capable of providing services to our customers.
  • Responsible for regularly validating software updates, testing replacement hardware for devices that are end-of-life, managing network resources such as IP addresses and VLANs. The objective is to ensure that Fulfillment has the resources to provision services to our customers and to provide a stable network environment for Operations to monitor.

Qualifications

  • BS,BA, EE or Equivalent, relevant network certifications (CCNP, CCIE) and/or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years experience managing a network engineering team
  • 5+ years experience in network engineering and design
  • Experience in the design and deployment of data center network solutions
  • Deep understanding of MPLS technologies
  • Experience with Python scripting a plus
  • Industry Certifications across several disciplines a plus
  • Superior documentation skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, ISIS). CCNP or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of MPLS (L2VPN and L3VPN)
  • Understanding of Metro Ethernet services. CECP2.0 Certification a plus
  • Knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6. Understanding of ARIN rules and guidelines for ISP desired
  • Good writing and documentation skills. Experience writing Engineering guidelines and procedures.
  • A background in Systems Integration and Element Management Systems a plus
  • Familiarity of fiber optic technology and transport networks
  • Good Interpersonal Skills. Must be able to work in both an individual and team capacity.
  • Project Management certification desired
  • Ability to occasionally exert up to 30 lbs. of force in order to move objects
