Pratt & Whitney, a Raytheon Technologies Company, is looking for a senior MES developer to join our Digital Technology (DT) Digital Manufacturing Applications team. This individual will be involved in the delivery of developing, enhancing, and implementing software solutions within Pratt & Whitney’s enterprise Manufacturing Execution System (MES) solutions, as well as integrations with other enterprise products for our internal Operations customers. This role will support the development of back-end and web-based solutions, troubleshooting of problems related to PW’s MES, resolving systems integration and compatibility issues, and supporting the application life cycle Center of Excellence. The position will be hybrid due to customer locations in different time zones, customer meetings can occur outside normal business work hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the design and implementation of scalable backend services and APIs using C# and .NET 6/8
  • Lead end-to-end software delivery: requirements analysis, architecture, coding, testing, and deployment
  • Define & enforce coding standards as per guidelines, design patterns, and architectural guidelines for the engineering team
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and IT stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
  • Develop workflows, forms, UI customizations, and interfaces using pre-defined development framework and tools.
  • Enable integrations with ERP, PLM, and shop floor systems (e.g., SAP, Teamcenter, IoT devices) via APIs & web services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues within MES application.
  • Participate & lead in sprint reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper documentation of system design, code, and configurations.
  • Guide and support junior developers, perform code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices and standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 10+ years of experience in software development with C# and the .NET ecosystem (.NET Core / .NET 5+)..
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and common enterprise design patterns (CQRS, Repository, Factory)
  • Proficiency with ASP.NET Core Web API, Entity Framework Core, and async/await concurrency patterns
  • Strong experience with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) including query optimisation and schema design
  • Hands-on experience with RESTful API design, OpenAPI/Swagger documentation, and service-to-service authentication (OAuth2, JWT)
  • Solid working knowledge of Git-based workflows, branching strategies, and pull-request-driven development
  • Familiarity with containerisation using Docker and orchestration basics (Kubernetes or Azure Container Apps)
  • Experience integrating MES with ERP or PLM systems.
  • Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, including configuration, deployment, and orchestration using tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes in aerospace, automotive, or high-tech industries.
  • Ability to work independently or lead small teams in an agile development environment with experience on project management tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Siemens Opcenter Execution (MES) or Opcenter APS modules with enterprise systems (ERP, SCADA, PLM)
  • Development of custom Opcenter workflows, business rules, and service extensions using the Opcenter SDK and REST/SOAP APIs
  • Development of custom Java actions, REST/OData integrations, and reusable modules within the Mendix platform
  • Design and maintain integration layers (REST, OData, message queues) connecting MES, ERP (SAP), and IoT data sources
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions) for both .NET and Mendix deployments
  • Understanding of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing principles.
