The Position

We are seeking an experienced MEP Manager with strong technical fluency to serve as the on-site MEP systems authority at our Spartanburg-based HPC facility. This role owns technical management of MEP scope – electrical, mechanical/cooling, controls, and fire alarm systems – from submittal review through equipment delivery and installation, serving as the technical resource that supports commissioning readiness.

The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for MEP technical matters at the Spartanburg facility, coordinating daily with subcontractors, equipment vendors, and OEM representatives. This role reports to the Dallas-based Director, Construction & Commissioning, working in close coordination with the Construction Superintendent on installation sequencing, and with the Manager of QAQC & Commissioning on system readiness and technical review of commissioning documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Review MEP submittals, shop drawings, and equipment specifications for technical accuracy and code compliance.
  • Review MEP-related RFIs; provide engineering-level technical direction to subcontractors and design teams.
  • Evaluate proposed design changes or field conditions affecting electrical, mechanical, cooling, or controls systems.
  • Coordinate technical resolution of MEP-specific conflicts identified during construction.
  • Work directly with procurement, logistics, and storage teams to confirm arrival of MEP equipment, schedule delivery, and verify equipment is set in the correct location per installation sequence.
  • Confirm O&M manuals and vendor startup requirements are on hand prior to installation.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Factory Witness Testing (FWT) as the technical evaluator; provide sign-off on technical acceptability of tested equipment.
  • Serve as the technical resource to the Manager of QAQC & Commissioning during system readiness evaluation and CMOP development.
  • Support resolution of technical deficiencies identified during pre-functional and functional performance testing.
  • Provide technical input on switching plans and load bank test parameters.
  • Provide regular technical status updates to the Director, Construction & Commissioning covering MEP scope, equipment delivery, and open technical issues.
  • Coordinate with the Construction Superintendent on installation sequencing and schedule impacts related to MEP scope.
  • Coordinate with the Manager of QAQC & Commissioning on FAT/FWT documentation handoff and system readiness for commissioning.
  • Present MEP technical status at OAC and stakeholder meetings.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of MEP technical experience (electrical or mechanical field engineer, MEP superintendent, or equivalent) in mission-critical or industrial environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of high/low-voltage electrical systems, mechanical/cooling systems, building controls, and fire alarm systems.
  • Experience reviewing MEP submittals, shop drawings, and equipment specifications at an engineering level.
  • Experience coordinating equipment delivery, logistics, and OEM startup requirements.
  • Familiarity with FAT/FWT processes and technical acceptance criteria.
  • Proficiency with Procore, BIM 360, and Primavera P6.
  • CxAlloy software proficiency.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field preferred; equivalent hands-on MEP field experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, IEEE, and ASHRAE standards preferred.
  • Experience at hyperscale data center or HPC environments preferred.
