JOB SUMMARY

Manages Energy Demand Management team; supports demand response personnel, market participants, Public Utility Commission of Texas and nodal markets. Manages a professional staff that acts as functional experts for all Demand Response, Load Profiling and Automated Meter Reading (AMR) initiatives as well as other distribution connected resource. Prepares capital budgets for the department. Manages the development and implementation of new demand response, AMR and other distribution connected initiatives. Ensures that ERCOT provides support to the continued evolution and success of the existing markets. Ensures support of ERCOT’s demand response personnel, market participants, PUCT, and the new nodal markets.

JOB DUTIES

  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff
  • Reviews and approves staff timesheets and leave requests
  • Prepares and recommends O&M and capital budgets for the department
  • Manages the activities of the ERCOT Demand Response group to develop and achieve departmental goals in support of corporate goals
  • Manages the development and implementation of new demand response, AMR and other distribution connected initiatives
  • Ensures that ERCOT provides support to the continued evolution and success of the existing markets
  • Works to resolve complex problems related to the design and implementation of the new Nodal Market
  • Leads investigations and coordinates analysis to aid in the resolution of issues related to the new Nodal Market
  • Ensures that ERCOT demand response group follows the procedures established by ERCOT and the PUCT
  • Resolves Market Participant’s concerns regarding demand response as well as AMR and other distribution connected initiatives
  • Promotes quality demand response through continuous process improvement
  • Develops and maintains strong expertise in ERCOT procedures and business rules related to demand response activities
  • Oversees demand response, AMR and other distribution connected related studies, evaluates findings, and recommends initiatives
  • Prioritizes initiatives for demand response, AMR and other distribution connected improvements
  • Analyzes business requirements for future system enhancements
  • Attends business meetings and collaborates with colleagues to develop “best practices” policies and procedures, and to identify and resolve issues to help create a flexible and efficient organization
  • Oversees the development and delivery of Market Bulletins and other presentations on business rules, protocols and work processes
  • Serves as an expert in communicating demand response issues to ERCOT’s Governing Board, Regulatory bodies, and the Market Participants
  • Performs related duties and activities as appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years of job-related work experience in excess of degree requirements.
  • Electric utility operations and industry experience required. Market deregulation experience preferred.
  • Experience in leadership/management preferred.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field required.
  • Or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required.
  • Master’s degree preferred

Salary will be based on overall experience as determined by ERCOT.

WORK LOCATION – Taylor, TX:

  • Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
  • On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
  • Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.  
  • Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time

Expected Salary Range:

$159,000 - $218,000
