We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our team in Costa Rica. This role oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to ensure product functionality and cost efficiency. The position also ensures strong collaboration between the engineering team and other manufacturing areas.

Additionally, this role is responsible for developing and implementing equipment that supports manufacturing operations, as well as reviewing, evaluating, and implementing engineering changes and specification requirements.

Leadership: Supervise/manage/direct the selection, training, development, appraisal and work assignments of personnel.

  • Manufacturing Engineer I, II, III and Staff

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Manufacturing Engineering team across multiple manufacturing areas, ensuring strong collaboration with other departments.
  • Develop and maintain a high-performing team through hiring, coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations, including Quality Systems, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues, working cross-functionally to implement and communicate solutions.
  • Identify and implement process and equipment improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency and performance.
  • Support new product introductions (NPI) by collaborating with R&D and ensuring smooth transfer from prototype to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, 5S, and Kaizen events to improve safety, quality, service, and efficiency.
  • Oversee equipment design, selection, and validation to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Support sourcing initiatives through product evaluations, process documentation, and site visits as needed.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation and reports to support engineering and operational activities.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal (B2+).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in supervisory or leadership roles, including at least 5 years in management positions.
  • Knowledge of medical device industry standards is required.
  • Hands-on experience in maintenance, calibrations, and equipment validations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using continuous improvement and quality tools such as Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys, Pareto Analysis, and Ishikawa (Fishbone) diagrams.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in self-managed teams and adapt to flexible work schedules.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical and statistical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios, probability) to practical situations.
