Primary Function:


The Manager, Logistics will help drive the implementation of Zoro’s Digital Supply Chain direct-to-customer fulfillment strategy. Reporting to the Senior Director, Logistics & Fulfillment, they must work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outstanding customer experience. 


This role owns the development and management of transportation, forward logistics and logistics related tasks from operational and tactical aspects. The manager establishes and upholds core fundamentals to promote knowledge exchange, quality assurance, and enable continuous improvement across the team.  The initial focus for the manager will be to help lead efforts to establish and monitor performances and setting right expectations with key partners as well as leading improvement initiatives to help provide better customer experience. They will lead their team of analysts and specialists to establish and improve processes through personal development and coaching with logistics topics and also foster analytical, continuous improvement and/or project management principles. 


The Manager, Logistics also works with internal and external partners to improve processes, reduce costs, and improve service.  


Duties and Responsibilities: 


Tactical

  • Design, implement, manage and maintain logistics (i.e. transportation, logistics) processes, programs, policies and strategies to help deliver better customer experience as well as bringing efficiencies in Zoro processes
  • Establish and maintain alliances with key internal and external stakeholders and senior management focused on total cost and service solutions


Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and lead projects and process improvement initiatives while working cross-functionally with key business partners 
  • Using continuous improvement tools and methodology to address complex problems


People Leadership

  • Recruit, manage, train, develop and ensure improvement of technical and professional skills, high productivity and job satisfaction of all direct reports through effective leadership, evaluation, coaching, and training
  • Empower and trust the team to make the right decisions, build the culture to have a creative thinking and healthy dialog in the team that foster curiosity that drives change and innovation
  • Accountable for staff direction and objectives, approve execution plans, and delegate tasks to deliver against business goals


Analytical skills

  • Build business cases, opportunity assessment, technology requests and project updates to  be presented on an Executive level
  • Identify and analyze trends using large data to anticipate emerging issues and areas requiring action


Operational

  • Collaborate regularly with Supply Chain leadership to ensure organizational objectives are supported with desired levels of carrier performance
  • Develop standard methods of communicating operational performance to internal partners


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering. MBA degree preferred 
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a transportation and logistics discipline with 3+ years effective leadership experience in a changing environment
  • High energy with a positive attitude, proving a desire to succeed. Ability to hit the ground running – a confident, entrepreneurial self-starter
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deliverables and deadlines in a high change, fast-moving environment
  • Continuous Improvement and/or project management training and experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct and participate on projects bringing them to a final conclusion.  Must be able to solicit ideas, encourage participation, resolve conflict and optimize resolutions
  • Systemic thinking and problem solving. Ability to identify feasible solutions and to influence decisions with teams without direct management responsibility
  • Experience analyzing large data sets and using that analysis to drive business plans and priorities with intermediate proficiency in programs including G-suite productivity tools, Microsoft Word, Excel, SQL, Access and other database and reporting tools. and Google G-Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills that foster collaboration within a team, with business partners, and with cross-functional stakeholders at varying levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; an articulate and persuasive communicator.
  • Experience in driving best practice and process improvements in cross-functional teams
