Job Summary
The Manager, Liability Claims is responsible for overseeing professional and general liability claims, including assessing liability, managing case reserves, developing and approving defense strategies, and directing negotiation efforts as appropriate. This role provides leadership to outside claims adjusters, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and insurance reporting requirements. Additionally, the Manager identifies and addresses trends to mitigate risk and improve claims management processes.

This is a HYBRID position in Franklin, TN.
Essential Functions

  • Manages professional and general liability claims files, including assessment of liability, evaluation of case reserves, and approval of defense strategies.
  • Supervises and provides direction to outside adjusters and attorneys to ensure alignment with organizational protocols and legal standards.
  • Establishes and implements protocols for handling potentially compensable events, claims, and litigation in accordance with company policies.
  • Analyzes claims data to identify patterns and trends, recommending corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborates with internal departments and external partners to monitor claims status and resolve complex liability issues.
  • Ensures compliance with insurance reporting requirements, preparing necessary documentation and reports for accurate and timely submissions.
  • Provides training and guidance to staff on claims management best practices, procedures, and regulatory updates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Law, or a related field required
  • 3-5 years of experience in liability claims management, including professional and general liability claims required
  • 1-3 years of experience in direct supervision of professional liability claims and litigation required
  • Experience in managing relationships with external adjusters, attorneys, and insurance partners required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of liability claims processes, risk management principles, and insurance regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess liability and develop effective defense strategies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and recommend actions.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills for managing external partners and internal staff.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills for complex claim resolution.
  • Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Licenses and Certifications

  • ARM - Certification In Risk Management preferred or
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) preferred

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Law, or related field
