The Opportunity

Hinge Health is seeking a Manager, Legal Operations to help scale the operational backbone of our Legal & Compliance team and otherwise help translate priorities into coordinated, measurable initiatives as the company grows. As a digital health company operating in a highly regulated space, our legal team's ability to move fast and manage risk depends on strong systems, clear processes, and disciplined spend management. In this role, you will own and mature core legal operations functions — including outside counsel relationships and spend, e-billing (Brightflag), budgeting and forecasting, contract lifecycle management (Ironclad), and legal technology — while also driving process improvement and program management across the broader Legal & Compliance team. This is a high-visibility role for someone who enjoys building infrastructure that lets attorneys focus on legal work instead of administrative overhead, and who wants to make a measurable, company-wide impact from within a lean, fast-moving legal team. You will report directly to our General Counsel, with the autonomy and mandate to own and shape the legal operations function as a strategic partner to Legal & Compliance leadership.

What You’ll Accomplish
  • Lead the legal operations function. Set the strategy and roadmap for the function while partnering closely with the General Counsel and Legal & Compliance leadership to align priorities with company goals.

  • Help manage the team’s annual OKR planning and reporting and develop agendas, decision materials, and follow-up processes for leadership meetings. Act as a central point of coordination for time-sensitive or department-wide initiatives sponsored by the General Counsel.

  • Provide the General Counsel with department-wide visibility into priorities, resources, dependencies, and execution risks. Support department communications, organizational planning, and stakeholder alignment.

  • Lead legal technology strategy. Evaluate, implement, and manage the legal team's technology stack (e.g., Ironclad, Brightflag, Streamline), identifying opportunities to add tools or retire ones that no longer serve the team.

  • Simplify legal intake process to improve response times, including upleveling the usage of systems like Streamline and Zendesk, managing the legal email alias, and responding to internal stakeholder inquiries to ensure efficient ticket routing.

  • Own outside counsel and vendor relationships and spend. Manage relationships across practice areas, ensuring engagements are scoped clearly, billed accurately, and delivering value relative to cost.

  • Drive e-billing and spend visibility. Own and continuously improve our Brightflag e-billing process to give Legal leadership real-time insight into and control over legal spend.

  • Manage budgeting and forecasting. Build and maintain the legal team's budget and forecast, partnering with Finance to track spend against plan and flag variances early.

  • Own contract lifecycle management. Serve as a key owner of Ironclad, managing templates, workflows, technical integrations (e.g. with Zip and Salesforce) and overall system configuration, and training business partners across the company on best practices.

  • Drive process improvement. Identify friction points in how the Legal & Compliance team operates and business teams interact with it, and design and implement scalable process fixes.

  • Manage legal and compliance programs. Support cross-functional program and project management for key legal and compliance initiatives, keeping workstreams on track and stakeholders informed.

  • Build knowledge management systems. Maintain and improve how legal knowledge, templates, and playbooks are organized and accessed across the team.

  • In your first 3 months: Develop a deep understanding of the legal team's current tools, budget structure, and outside counsel relationships. Identify quick wins for process improvement, including through AI enablement and tool testing. Build relationships with key stakeholders, including across Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Procurement.

  • In your first 6 months: Own the legal budget/forecast cycle end-to-end, with clear variance tracking and reporting to legal leadership. Lead at least one significant process improvement project, and have implemented at least one new or improved legal technology capability that measurably reduces friction for the legal team or business partners. Establish a regular cadence for reporting legal spend and operational metrics to leadership. Take a leading role in the management of departmental metrics and OKR reporting.

  • In your first year: Be recognized as the go-to owner for legal operations at Hinge Health, with outside counsel spend, e-billing, and CLM processes running smoothly and scalably. Have built a legal operations roadmap for the following year, informed by team feedback (e.g., client satisfaction survey results) and business growth needs.

Who You Are
  • You're a systems thinker who enjoys turning ambiguity into a scalable process, and you get genuine satisfaction from building the infrastructure that lets other people do their best work.

  • You take ownership end-to-end. When you see a gap in how something runs, you don't wait to be asked to fix it.

  • You build trust quickly with both legal professionals and business stakeholders by communicating clearly, following through reliably, and understanding the "why" behind legal processes, not just the "what."

  • You're comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment, and you stay resilient and solutions-oriented when priorities shift.

Basic Qualifications
  • 6+ years of combined experience in broad in-house legal operations, law firm operations, or a related operational/business/chief-of-staff role, with direct experience managing people and technology-driven optimizations.

  • Hands-on experience with e-billing platforms (e.g., Brightflag) and contract lifecycle management systems (e.g., Ironclad).

  • Demonstrated experience building and managing budgets/forecasts in partnership with Finance.

  • Strong project management skills with a track record of leading process improvement initiatives across multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • In-house legal operations experience at a healthcare, digital health, or other highly regulated technology company.

  • Experience implementing or optimizing a legal technology stack.

  • Familiarity with using and deploying AI tools(e.g. GC AI, Claude, Glean) and agents to drive efficiency in legal and legal operations work.

  • Experience building or managing knowledge management systems and playbooks/templates used across a legal team.

  • MBA, JD, or other advanced degree, though not required.
