The Engineering Manager (India Office) is responsible for leading engineers delivering digital commerce capabilities. This role provides technical, delivery, and people leadership for Agile product teams and is accountable for engineering execution and quality, operational stability, team development, and business outcomes. Operating within a matrixed, globally distributed organization, the Engineering Manager provides local leadership for a designated geography while partnering across product, engineering, architecture, quality, operations, and business teams worldwide to remove blockers, manage dependencies, align and reinforce priorities, and facilitate successful delivery through collaboration, influence, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide local leadership for a matrixed and geographically distributed engineering organization, fostering team engagement, professional development, collaboration, and operational effectiveness while partnering with global peers to promote consistent engineering practices and successful delivery across regions.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and other technical leaders to translate business priorities into executable engineering plans and delivery commitments.
- Partner with Scrum Masters to facilitate Agile delivery practices, including planning, estimation, dependency management, release coordination, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of digital commerce capabilities, integrations, and supporting services.
- Mentor and coach engineers in their professional growth, technical development, and career progression.
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of customer-facing digital commerce platforms.
- Establish and monitor operational, quality, and delivery metrics to drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
- Lead incident management, root-cause analysis, and problem-resolution activities to improve platform stability and customer experience.
- Influence cross-functional teams, remove blockers, manage dependencies, and facilitate the successful delivery of business and technology objectives.
- Build a high-performing engineering culture focused on ownership, accountability, quality, customer outcomes, innovation, and continuous learning.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (or demonstrable equivalent work experience) in Information Technology or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive software engineering, enterprise application development, and technology delivery experience, including at least 3 years in a people leadership or delivery leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated success building, coaching, and developing high-performing Agile teams while driving accountability and professional growth.
- Proven ability to lead through influence and effectively operate within matrixed organizations.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, customer focus, quality, operational excellence, and business results.
- Expertise in modern software delivery practices including cloud-native architectures, integrations, CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, application architecture, scalable system design, software quality, and operational support.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and organizational leadership skills.
- Experience with enterprise-class commerce platforms strongly preferred.
