ROLE SUMMARY

 

The QA Manager leads a team of Quality Engineers to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant delivery of our HealthTech platform. This role defines and executes the quality strategy, including test automation, test management, and quality governance, in close partnership with Product, Engineering, Security, and Compliance.  The manager is accountable for building scalable quality systems, integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines, and meeting regulatory expectations (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI, HITRUST) while enabling safe releases.

 KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Own the Quality Engineering strategy and roadmap for assigned products, ensuring it aligns with product risk, architecture, and delivery model.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Quality Engineers (onsite and remote) through clear expectations, coaching, and performance management.
  • Design and govern a risk-based testing approach (including test pyramid, regression strategy, and release risk scoring) that balances speed with safety and compliance.
  • Review and approve Software Project Documentation such as; Requirements, Design Specifications, Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Scripts and Test Data.
  • Develop technical expertise and solid understanding of business and functional concepts for domains assigned.
  • Work with QA Team to provide management of task breakdowns, effort estimates and dependencies for areas assigned in projects.
  • Architect and oversee automated testing across UI, API, and backend services, ensuring frameworks are maintainable, scalable, and integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Drive integration of tests into CI/CD with appropriate quality gates, parallelization, and flaky-test management.
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage, including functional, integration, regression, performance, and reliability testing for key user workflows.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, and Compliance to define testable acceptance criteria and ensure releases meet quality, security, and regulatory expectations (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI, HITRUST).
  • Establish and track key quality metrics (e.g., escaped defects, automation reliability, flakiness, time to diagnose failures, pipeline impact) and share insights with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Client Support and Operations to incorporate production issues into test coverage and prevent recurrence.
  • Champion modern quality practices such as shift-left testing, contract testing, test data management, and observability-driven debugging.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of SDLC processes, including Definitions of Ready/Done, code review standards, and incident postmortems.

 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:                      

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in software quality engineering or software testing, including 3+ years in a people-leadership role (Team Lead, Manager, or above).
  • Experience leading QA/QE for cloud-based SaaS products, ideally in healthcare or other regulated domains.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and executing test strategies, including strong emphasis on test automation and risk-based testing.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:          

  • Experience managing and mentoring distributed/remote quality engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and prior collaboration with DevOps teams.
  • Hands-on experience with modern test automation frameworks for UI and API layers and test management systems integrated with CI/CD.
  • Familiarity with healthcare and security regulatory requirements and compliance (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI, HITRUST)
  • Experience working with observability and logging tools to help diagnose production issues and drive test improvements.
  • Prior experience in a Senior QA/Quality Engineering role in a HealthTech or clinical software environment.

 OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for compliance with all federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations affecting Company.
  • Responsible for participating in quality assurance, compliance and in-service and continuing education activities as requested by Company.
  • Responsible for performing other duties and responsibilities as required.
