Manager, IQ Programs

The Manager, IQ Programs provides strategic leadership for the planning, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) and Inuit language programs at Nunavut Arctic College. Reporting to the Chair, Inuit Language and Culture Programs, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring culturally grounded curriculum, high-quality instruction, and the development of Inuit language and IQ learning resources that support learners across Nunavut.

The Manager plays a key role in advancing Nunavut Arctic College's commitment to preserving and strengthening Inuit language, culture, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit by leading program operations, supervising instructors and contractors, managing funded agreements and program budgets, and fostering collaborative relationships with Elders, community organizations, government departments, and territorial and national partners.
 

Provides leadership for IQ programs by planning, coordinating, and evaluating Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Inuit language programs, overseeing curriculum development, program delivery, instructional quality, and continuous improvement to ensure culturally grounded learning experiences.

Leads staff and supports academic excellence by supervising instructors and contractors, providing coaching and performance management, supporting professional development, and fostering collaboration, innovation, and culturally responsive teaching practices.

Oversees Inuit language resource development by directing the development of IQ and Inuktut publications, coordinating interpretation, translation, terminology development, editorial processes, and ensuring the cultural integrity and linguistic accuracy of instructional resources.

Manages program operations and partnerships by administering program budgets and funded agreements, monitoring deliverables, preparing reports and proposals, supporting student success, and building strong relationships with Elders, community organizations, territorial partners, and national stakeholders to advance Inuit language revitalization and culturally grounded education.
 

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field such as Inuit Studies, Linguistics, Indigenous Language Revitalization, or another discipline relevant to Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit programming, combined with a minimum of three (3) years of instructional or program delivery experience in Inuit language, IQ, adult education, or a related field, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
