The Role

Personal Investor Sales has an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team of Sales Consultants as an Inbound Sales Manager. This team discovers clients' and prospects' needs -- recommends appropriate solutions and inspires investor action in their journey towards a buying decision: Vanguard Advice, Savings Solutions or other Vanguard products. 

In this role your will:

  • Coach and lead a team to achieve dashboard goals and deliver outcomes through the inbound phone channel where sales consultants are expected to engage in meaningful conversations to understand client needs and position the Vanguard products and services that investors can use to meet their goals and objectives. Your role as a leader is to provide guidance, training, and motivation as necessary to develop staff. Follow corporate disciplinary procedures per established Vanguard standards as required. Set performance standards, reviews performance, provides feedback, and recommends wage increases in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.

  • Oversee the execution of the sales and lead generation strategy for Personal Investor, with a particular focus on attracting new high value and high net worth clients. Coach crew to understand and position appropriate Vanguard products and services including financial planning, savings solutions, and funds/ETFs based upon the uncovered client needs. Also hold crew accountable to uncovering investors’ non-Vanguard assets, conducting advanced needs' analysis of clients’ financial situation, and providing clients with Vanguard's value proposition to win additional business.

  • Develop a culture of coaching: is a student and teacher in the art of sales. Provide frequent and ongoing coaching of sales competencies and independent thinking skills to develop and grow their team to achieve specific business results.  Recognize special skills, highlight best in class abilities, provide analysis/feedback and suggest improvement to staff. Engage in regular dialogue with team and peer group to drive effective variance management and leverage the Vanguard Management System to achieve outcomes. Coaches and holds crew accountable to following appropriate processes and adhering to Vanguard expectations to minimize risk for the enterprise.

  • Personally participate in the sales process. Expected to model the desired behaviors, activities and results. Engage in regular coaching through call evaluations, in room coaching, live listening, and pipeline evaluations to ensure expected behaviors are delivered on every call, every time and that crew are following up with clients and moving them through the pipeline.

  • Assist in the development of business and sales related goals.  Work with peers and sales professionals to monitor and communicate progress towards goals. Develop close working relationships with all appropriate internal partner groups. Drive team to convert inbound sales opportunities in order to achieve results.

  • Recognize VOC, market trends, competitive offerings and opportunities for improvement.  Develop and recommend changes to departmental policies, procedures and workflows to meet changing business needs.  

  • Guide team to improve opportunities and support the consultative sales model.  Analyze and resolve the most complex client issues, and review internal partner and client feedback.

  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Five years related work experience. Prior supervisory experience preferred.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • This job requires a regulatory license and/or registration (e.g. FINRA, state, SFC). These will be determined by Compliance based on role-specific duties.

  • Strong ability to drive outcomes through others.

  • Sales experience required.

  • Coaching and development experience.
