About the role  

Reporting to the GM Infrastructure Operations Excellence, the Manager Infrastructure HSEW is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic deployment and continuous enhancement of the Infrastructure HSEW strategy. The role oversees the effective allocation of business unit and shared resources to support operational performance, regulatory compliance, risk management and improvement initiatives. This role fosters a culture of accountability where asset ownership, risk management and compliance obligations are embedded within business units, supported by Operational Excellence partners who provide practical, risk-based and value-adding expertise to drive safe, sustainable and high-performing outcomes. This is a permanent, fulltime role based in our Alexandria HQ Sydney or Brisbane.

 

Key responsibilities   

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of Infrastructure HSEW standards, frameworks and critical controls.  

  • Ensure alignment with regulatory obligations, Group requirements and industry best practice.  

  • Define and maintain HSEW critical control framework, effective control performance, consistent application and verification approach  

  • Deploy and lead HSEW partnering resources to support operational performance and risk management.  

  • Lead and coordinate broader initiatives and projects to drive strategic outcomes 

  • Implement Infrastructure HSEW standards and Group driven HSEW improvement projects 

  • Provide expert guidance on hazard identification, risk management and complex HSEW decision-making.  

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators and key external stakeholders.  

  • Drive compliance, assurance, audit readiness and the consistent application of HSEW requirements.  

  • Partner with business units and Group HSEW functions to embed HSEW excellence and continuous improvement.  

  • Develop organisational capability and foster a culture of accountability, prevention and high-performance HSEW outcomes. 

 

 

Key skills and experience 

 

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline, with a strong foundation in HSEW practices and governance.  

  • Demonstrated extensive experience in a Senior HSEW leadership within complex, high-hazard environments such as oil & gas, energy, power generation, mining, or heavy industry.  

  • Deep understanding of risk management, critical controls, regulatory compliance and safety challenges associated with infrastructure and industrial operations.  

  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and resources, translating strategic objectives into practical operational outcomes within complex organisational environments.  

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with a demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and effectively partner with business leaders, regulators, contractors, and external stakeholders.

Skills Required
