To plan, supervise and direct the engineering functions within the Cybersecurity Technology Engineering (CTE) team. Collaborate with managers within the CTE to define the strategic vision for the team. Provide leadership, guidance, and technical guidance to ensure appropriate security protocols are leveraged to protect NFCU's brand, data, and IT assets from cyber-based threats.
Responsibilities- Serve as the technical manager for firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, network access controls and microsegmentation
- Review and approve production change requests
- Manage a team of about 15 network security engineers
- Provide vision for the future direction of the Cybersecurity posture of the enterprise
- Manage the deployment of new infrastructure and migration from legacy infrastructure
- Manage the daily operations for firewalls, network access controls, and intrusion prevention systems
- Ensure a standardized approach to network security policy management
- Act as an escalation source for on-call engineers
- Oversee the assessment and review of current technology to identify key risk areas to ensure an adequate level of control is in place to address risks
- Oversee vulnerability and threat assessments, mitigation and reporting activities
- Ensure that work quality, work methods, procedures, processes, and production statistics meet business goals and standards of member service
- Oversee the development of technical documentation
- Act as a liaison for internal and external auditors
- Ability to brief senior leadership on the team’s activities and incident response
- Act as the hiring authority for employees and contractors
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a network engineering or cybersecurity engineering position (10 years preferred)
- Served as a lead engineer or a manager on a network security team
- Experience with a common network security tool, such as firewalls, IPS/IDS, and/or ISE
- Experience with change control procedures
- Expert knowledge of cyber/information security systems engineering lifecycle
- Experience managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
- Ability to work with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors
- Advanced skill interacting with staff, management, vendors and members diplomatically and tactfully
- Advanced analytical thinking skills include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results or relationships
- Advanced research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in managing a cybersecurity team for a medium to large size organization
Understanding of how to migrate layer 4 security policies to layer 7 policies
- Experience in firewall rule remediation with the use of Firemon or similar application
- GIAC, CEH, CISSP, Security+, or related Information Security certifications
- Professional Certification in one of the following- CCNP, CISSP, CCIE, PCNSE
- Experience in leading successful IT projects
- Demonstrated proficiency in establishing processes and procedures
