Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position will provide proactive leadership in benefits administration, leave management, reasonable accommodations, and employee relations support for multiple off-site locations.  Responsibilities include providing professional Human Resources guidance to Managers and Team Members to facilitate effective mission delivery and ensure legal compliance. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, and FMLA.
  2. Oversees the interactive process with reasonable accommodations.
  3. Partner with Talent Development, facilitate career progression training and mentoring programs; develop and maintain course material and ensure participation in required training opportunities. 
  4. Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries.
  5. Supervise editing and publishing weekly newsletter.
  6. Assist Director with investigations of internal complaints and concerns, including allegations of violations of company policies, code of conduct, working conditions, corrective actions, and employee or applicant concerns.
  7. Develops user procedures, checklists, guidelines, and documentation including but not limited to, presentations, manuals, job aids, process documentation and communications.
  8. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to all levels of Goodwill management to include oversight of the performance appraisal process.
  9. Review and provide solutions to issues and inquiries from team members and management regarding policy interpretation and procedures.  
  10. Create and maintain effective documentation related to employee relations cases; utilize resources and tools established by Goodwill.
  11. Partner with Accounting to collect benefit arrears from team members on leave. 
  12. Administers the tuition reimbursement program.
  13. Work with HRIS Manager to assess and maintain functionality, information input, and transaction workflows through all HR system modules. This includes pre-employment procedures, onboarding new hires, benefits enrollment and changes, timekeeping and payroll interfaces, HR transactions, compensation, and performance management, reporting compliance, exit processing, etc.   
  14. Advise on internal transfers and corrective actions in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. 
  15. Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to workplace, reducing legal risk and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  16. Complete other projects and tasks as requested.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, psychology, industrial/organizational development or related field; master’s degree and/or professional HR certification a plus.
  2. 7+ years’ strong hands-on experience performing employee relations, benefits, leave and compensation administration, as well as other HR functions in high volume workplace with current employment law knowledge.
  3. Proven experience with ADA, Family Medical Leave (FMLA), accommodations coordination.
  4. Effective interpersonal and empathic skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task and meet stringent deadlines with exceptional follow up.
  5. Proficiency with Paycom or other HRIS systems.
  6. Excellent computer skills, including all Microsoft Office programs; strong spreadsheet and analysis skills.
  7. Experience in Non-Profits and Ability One programs is a plus.
  8. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  9. For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
