About the RoleThe HR Compliance & Immigration Manager plays a critical role in ensuring World Fuel's employment practices, immigration programs, and compliance initiatives are effectively managed, governed, and continuously improved.
Reporting to the Senior Director, HR Compliance & Immigration, this position serves as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, partnering closely with HR, Talent Acquisition, Legal, Payroll, HR Operations, and external counsel to ensure compliance with employment and immigration requirements across the organization.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex compliance challenges, managing global programs, improving processes, and helping organizations navigate a changing regulatory environment.
What You'll DoLead HR Compliance Programs- Manage day-to-day execution of global HR compliance programs and initiatives.
- Partner with HR teams to ensure compliance requirements are integrated into HR processes and practices.
- Monitor employment law and regulatory developments and help assess organizational impact.
- Identify compliance risks and recommend practical solutions and corrective actions.
- Serve as a resource for HR partners and business leaders on compliance-related matters.
- Lead preparation and coordination for internal and external audits.
- Manage audit documentation, evidence collection, issue tracking, and remediation efforts.
- Support ongoing compliance monitoring and governance activities.
- Conduct compliance reviews and help maintain a strong audit-ready environment.
- Escalate significant compliance risks and findings to leadership.
Oversee programs including:
- I-9 and employment eligibility verification
- E-Verify
- Affirmative Action Plans (AAP)
- EEO-1 and VETS-4212 reporting
- Reasonable accommodations
- Unemployment claims
- Workers' compensation coordination
- Record retention and employment documentation requirements
- Partner with immigration counsel and vendors to manage immigration processes and case activity.
- Oversee visa sponsorships, transfers, renewals, and permanent residency cases.
- Monitor case progress and compliance requirements.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employees, managers, recruiters, and HR partners regarding immigration matters.
- Support international transfers, assignments, and mobility initiatives.
- Develop compliance metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Analyze trends, risks, and program effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to streamline, standardize, and automate compliance processes.
- Partner with HRIS and Shared Services teams to improve operational efficiency.
- Create process documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
- Support compliance and immigration training programs.
- Create guidance materials and employee resources.
- Educate HR teams and leaders on policy updates and compliance requirements.
- Foster strong partnerships across HR, Legal, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, and business leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in HR compliance, immigration, HR operations, employment law support, or related areas.
- Hands-on experience administering employment-based immigration programs.
- Experience managing audits, regulatory reporting, and compliance initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
- Strong project and program management skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, GPHR, or similar certification.
- Experience supporting a global workforce across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience working for a federal contractor.
- Experience partnering with immigration counsel and external vendors.
- Experience leading projects, programs, or small teams.
- Experience with Workday or similar HRIS platforms.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
