Purpose:
The successful candidate will analyze complex financial regulatory developments, coordinate cross-functional input, and support Athene’s advocacy before regulators and industry associations. This position combines technical financial expertise with public policy insight, offering a unique opportunity to influence policy outcomes and strengthen Athene’s voice in regulatory discussions.
Accountabilities:
Regulatory Analysis & Monitoring
- Track, analyze, and interpret financial regulatory developments related to life insurance risk-based capital, investment accounting, securities valuation, and structured securities at the NAIC.
- Assess business implications of proposed changes and provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Translate complex technical content into clear, strategic recommendations aligned with Athene’s objectives.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Lead cross-departmental collaboration to develop regulatory responses, including comment letters, white papers, and data submissions.
- Serve as a liaison between GR and internal teams across risk, accounting, finance, investments, treasury, and actuarial functions.
- Ensure timely, high-quality input into all regulatory communications.
Communication & Advocacy
- Prepare concise, insightful memoranda and briefings for senior leadership.
- Synthesize technical input into messages tailored for both technical and executive audiences.
- Represent Athene in discussions with regulators, the NAIC, and industry trade associations.
- Contribute to the development of advocacy materials, including comment letters, issue briefs, and policy white papers.
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Manage multiple high priority workstreams simultaneously, balancing technical rigor with strategic alignment.
- Support broader GR team initiatives to shape policy positions consistent with Athene’s business strategy.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in life insurance, accounting, investments, risk management, or regulatory policy.
- Strong understanding of insurance statutory and GAAP accounting, investment and capital frameworks, risk modeling, and structured securities.
- Exceptional analytical, writing, and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and professional integrity.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred
- Experience engaging with regulatory or government affairs processes (e.g., NAIC).
- Prior involvement in drafting regulatory comments or industry advocacy materials.
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex regulatory and financial documents.
$105,600.00 - $158,400.00 USD Annual
Annual Salary for this role is market competitive. Actual salary for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Depending on the role, a discretionary bonus plan or variable sales incentive may be included.
