Position Summary: 

The Manager, Government Affairs, will manage WellPower’s government affairs function through legislative monitoring, policy analysis, advocacy planning and relationship management with city, state and federal stakeholders. Serve as a key liaison on government relations matters, advancing policy priorities that support organizational goals. Partner with internal leaders to assess policy implications, align messaging and inform executive decision-making.

The posted range represents the full hiring range. Offers will not exceed this range, the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications. 

Job Duties & Functions: 

  • Manage the organization’s government affairs strategy in alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Monitor legislation, regulations and public policy developments that may affect the organization’s operations, funding and strategic objectives.
  • Build, maintain and strengthen relationships with elected officials, agency leaders, staff and other key public-sector stakeholders.
  • Analyze policy proposals and prepare briefings, recommendations, testimony and other advocacy materials for internal leaders and external audiences.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, hearings, coalitions and other forums related to public policy and government relations.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders to develop policy positions, response strategies and communication plans on priority legislative issues.
  • Track advocacy activity, stakeholder engagement and policy outcomes and provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Support executive leadership with government-facing communications and strategic engagement opportunities.
  • Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Requirements & Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, public administration, communications, law, healthcare administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in government affairs, public policy, advocacy, legislative affairs or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing legislation and regulations and developing policy positions. Ability to engage effectively with government stakeholders and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing briefings, testimony and executive-level materials.
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health or other community-serving environments. (preferred) 

Work Location: This role may be fully remote. If office space is needed, the employee is expected to work on-site three days per week in a designated workspace. Candidates must be in the Denver Metro Area. 

Shift/Hours: This is a Monday-Friday opportunity observing standard business hours. May require occasional evening or weekend hours. 

Physical Requirements: This position involves sedentary work, requiring extended periods of sitting, computer use, and participation in meetings both in-person and virtual. Occasional physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and reaching is expected, along with occasional lifting of up to 20-30 pounds. The role demands frequent use of phones and standard office equipment. Strong cognitive abilities are essential, including analytical thinking, strategic decision-making, and the capacity to manage complex issues under pressure.
