About the Role
As Manager of Global Trade Compliance and Operations for EMEA, you will lead teams to ensure accurate import-export, statistical reporting, and legal documentation. This role involves ensuring compliance with customs procedures and authorizations, and managing customs valuation, classification, and country of origin determination. You will also handle the preferential Free Trade Agreement (FTA) origin solicitation and qualification process, analyze various products and services for classification, provide support with duty implication analysis, manage customs broker operations, align local risk management frameworks with global standards, and support the monitoring and auditing of customs clearance processes to ensure adherence to customs laws. This position requires strong leadership and a comprehensive understanding of international trade regulations with global focus.
What You Will Do
Lead and manage internal teams to ensure the completion of required import-export, statistical reporting, and legal documentation.
Ensure compliance with customs processes and customs authorizations.
Ensure proper customs valuation, classification, and determination of the country of origin.
Manage the preferential (FTA) origin solicitation and qualification process.
Analyze products, components, tooling, equipment, and services to determine classification.
Provide support and scenario analysis for procurement and sales to aid business decisions with duty implication information.
Manage customs broker operations and ensure proper customs instruction processes.
Align local risk management frameworks and processes with global ones to address risks.
Organize and support monitoring and auditing of customs clearance processes and documentation to ensure compliance with trade laws.
Advise the business on compliance requirements and related controls.
Create, assess, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for customs valuation, classification, and determination of the country of origin in alignment with EMEA legislation.
Identify and drive cost management and duty optimization activities.
Identify and integrate best practices standards for the organization based on global cooperation.
Build partnerships with third-party customs brokerage firms, government agencies, and trade compliance service providers.
Apply for and manage customs rulings and binding tariff information.
Prepare and provide KPIs of performance for all activities related to customs valuation, classification, and determination of the country of origin.
Manage professional training for internal and external users on customs valuation, classification, and determination of the country of origin.
Actively participate in customs and trade automation projects.
What You Need to Be Successful
A thorough understanding of enterprise-wide trade compliance management
15+ years of experience with regional experience, Trade automation technology, customs simplification management
Demonstrable knowledge of Trade compliance and customs software and new product launches
Proficiency in Trade Compliance and customs program development
Experienced in in leadership and strategy
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, planning, international trade or related field
Customs clerk expert certification
Fluent in English, both written and oral
Strong knowledge of European Customs Code and trade regulations
Experience in managing customs broker operations and trade compliance projects
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to build effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
Proven track record in leading internal teams, cost management, and duty optimization
Willingness to travel up to 20%
Bonus Points if You Have
Global experience in collaboration with teams in various geographies
Knowledge of auto and electronics industry requirements and customs procedures
Experience working with ERP and Trade Compliance systems
