Job Purpose
Manage the team to ensure timely delivery of reporting, with accurate financial statements prepared in line with accounting standards and regulations, while supporting audit requirements and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Timeliness and Quality Reporting
• Lead and manage the team to ensure all internal timelines are consistently met
• Ensure team deliverables are properly reviewed, addressed, and followed through until fully resolved
• Ensure timely escalation of issues that may impact reporting deadlines
• Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of journals and reports
2. Operational Efficiency & Effectiveness
• Monitor and review SOPs to ensure they remain up to date and relevant
• Oversee the preparation of GL reconciliations and ensure timely follow-up with Transaction Owners to clear balances with proper supporting documentation
• Ensure long outstanding balances and unresolved issues are promptly identified, tracked, and escalated
• Oversee that GL accounts are properly maintained, including ensuring the team have correctly enabled for posting if any.
3. Excellent Services to Stakeholoders
• Respond within agreed timelines
• Review and advise on accounting treatment matters with stakeholders upon clearance with Unit Head/HOD
• Maintain effective communication with internal or external stakeholders, including external auditors.
4. Audit & Compliance Support
• Support internal and external audits by preparing required schedules and documentation
• Ensure audit queries are responded to timely and accurately
• Address audit findings and drive closure of audit issues
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
• Proactively plan and coordinate with auditors to ensure timely financial statement sign-off
5. Continuous Improvement
• Reassess existing processes and identify improvement opportunities
• Drive process enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Understand audit/management feedback (SUM/SAM from auditors, GTax, BFA, etc.) and implement corrective actions
• Monitor and minimize recurring gaps (e.g., impairment assessment, tax computation, reconciliations)
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting, Finance,
- Professional Qualification and/or Regulatory, Licensing requirements
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent preferred
Relevant Work Experience
- Minimum 6 years of combined experiences in finance operation within a bank or including audit and/or financial reporting

- Financial Systems (ERP)
- Financial and Accounting Standards knowledge inc. BNM Guidelines
- Problem solving skills
- MS Project and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Non-Technical Skills
- Strong communication skills written and verbal

- Proven experience in leading and managing a team
