Introduction:
The Fund Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of fund accounting services for a portfolio of investment funds within a fund administration environment. The role includes end‑to‑end accountability for fund financial reporting, governance, and client service, while managing day‑to‑day accounting activities performed by the India team.
Key Responsibilities:
Fund Accounting Oversight
- Maintain overall responsibility for accurate and timely delivery of NAVs, management accounts, investor reporting, and statutory financial statements.
- Review and sign off on key deliverables prepared by the senior fund accountants / assistant managers.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
Team Management
- Oversee day‑to‑day fund accounting activities performed by India team, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, NAV calculations, and investor allocations.
- Set clear expectations, timelines, and quality standards and client deliverables.
- Review error logs, identify root causes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives with India teams.
- Provide technical guidance, feedback, and training to India team preparers and reviewers.
- Coordinate workload planning and capacity management with India managers.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary contact for CSC and clients on fund accounting matters.
- Proactively manage client expectations regarding timelines, deliverables, and issues.
- Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, depositaries, and other service providers.
- Lead discussions on accounting matters, system changes, and service enhancements.
Governance & Controls
- Maintain strong oversight of internal controls, checklists, and review frameworks.
- Ensure issues are escalated appropriately and resolved within agreed timelines.
- Monitor KPIs, SLAs, and performance metrics relating to fund accounting delivery.
Process Improvement & Change
- Drive process standardization and automation across India teams.
- Support onboarding of new funds, transitions, and system migrations.
- Participate in internal projects relating to operational efficiency and service model optimization.
People & Leadership
- Manage and develop India based fund accountants.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and mentoring.
- Foster strong collaboration with India teams.
Key Requirements:
- Graduate / Postgraduate or similar (Preferably Accounting, Finance and Banking)
- 10+ years of experience in fund accounting- private equity.
- Strong experience in fund accounting within a fund administration environment.
- Proven experience managing offshore or outsourced accounting teams.
- Solid knowledge of alternative investment funds (Private Equity, Real Estate, Hedge Funds).
- Having knowledge in Geneva will be an added advantage.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and high‑volume fund structures.
