The Franchise team is responsible for defining how the network operates-ensuring that every participant, transaction, and innovation operates within a consistent, secure, and trusted rule framework. • Network Standards sits at the intersection of strategy, architecture, and governance, shaping the future of how Mastercard's network evolves.• Network Standards is where strategy meets execution, ensuring Mastercard's rules are applied consistently and effectively at global scale.
The Network Standards team ensures that the rules are implemented, enforced, and continuously aligned across markets, partners, and regulatory environments. In addition, our team architects and defines the Mastercard rulebook, ensuring the network evolves in a way that supports innovation while maintaining consistency and trust.
Overview
The Asia-Pacific Franchise Team is seeking a Manager for Franchise Network Standards. This position will report directly to the Vice President, Franchise Network Standards Lead for Asia-Pacific. The Network Standards team plays a critical role in ensuring that Mastercard's expansion into new business models and ecosystems occurs at scale, with uniformity, and without compromising trust, compliance, or franchise integrity. As a member of this specialized team, the Manager will contribute to defining operational standards for Mastercard's network and support the safe development of evolving business models. Key responsibilities include translating Mastercard's network principles and facilitating the scalable growth of new business models in a secure and consistent manner.
The Role
• Define and maintain global standards that ensure consistent, secure, and compliant network operations across multiple markets.• Design standards for new payment flows, emerging technologies, and evolving ecosystem participation models.• Translate strategic products and business innovation into scalable, enforceable network standards.• Participate in the full lifecycle of standards development, review, approval, and implementation across the organization.• Adapt network standards for expansion into new markets and business models.• Support standards development for key domains such as dispute resolution, card design, and multi-rail payment programs.• Stay ahead of business trends related to new markets and business opportunities; understand/communicate potential impact on licenses, rules, compliance and systems.• Execute on the company goals to achieve team priorities in tandem with regional business objectives.• Track and own the outcomes of the Franchise solutions delivered. • Multi-task and prioritize in order to meet project constraints (budget, deadlines, etc.).

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills: • Sound understanding of global payment network constructs including issuing and acquiring.• Demonstrated ability to develop clear and scalable standards documentation, as well as to translate product, technical, and business requirements into comprehensive network standards and frameworks. • Excellent interpersonal skills; highly collaborative and organized individual who will communicate and manage relationships across multiple functional areas/teams.• Structured thinking to balance innovation with regulatory compliance.• Strong project management and organizational skills.• Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent.• Ideally at least 3-4 years' experience in relevant field which involves providing consultancy work to translate business strategies into clear, enforceable standards• Overseas assignment/work in multiple countries/regions is a plus, but not required.
