As our Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), you’ll be the strategic finance partner that connects the dots between data and decision-making. Working closely with key stakeholders—including the Senior Executive Team, Other Functional Teams (including Equipment, Operations, Technical & Marine, and Sales), and the wider Finance function — you’ll lead provision of high-impact analysis that uncovers the "why" behind the numbers. As a leader in the NPDL Corporate FP&A team, you'll drive insights that shape the future of the business, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership. You’ll also lead and mentor a direct report focused on Corporate FP&A, helping to elevate our financial planning function to the next level.
Job DescriptionHere is what you will be doing:
- Lead the charge in consolidating financials for executive leadership—own monthly reporting, quarterly forecasts, and annual budget cycles that influence big-picture decisions.
- Take the reins on budget development and forecasting, drilling into key drivers, operational metrics, and scenario analysis to keep the business one step ahead.
- Champion high-performance standards and continuous improvement across all financial KPIs—because good isn’t good enough.
- Shape the long-term future with robust P&L and cash flow forecasts, delivering actionable insights to NPDL’s senior leadership and corporate finance partners.
- Build powerful, intuitive reports to track forecasting, sales trends, and monthly financial performance—and present findings with impact to senior stakeholders.
- Translate complex financial data into clear, compelling stories that drive decision-making and spark action.
- Deliver strategic P&L views across different segments of the business to unlock insights and drive growth.
- Mentor and guide others, ensuring excellence in month-end reporting, variance analysis, and budget performance reviews.
- Partner closely with cost and revenue centre leaders to monitor budgets and support smarter, data-backed decision-making.
- Harness the power of CargoWise and Power BI to build dynamic, user-friendly reporting tools that add real value.
- Play a key role in mergers & acquisitions —supporting financial due diligence and modelling that guides strategic investments.
- Bring financial literacy to the business—help teams understand their numbers and use data to drive results.
- Seek out and act on process improvement opportunities—challenge the status quo and offer fresh solutions.
- Tackle high-impact ad hoc analysis projects (including implementation of a new planning and reporting tool) that help shape our strategic direction.
Here’s what you’ll bring to the table:
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CPA? Even better!)—plus solid knowledge of GAAP standards to back it all up.
- 10+ years of hands-on FP&A or commercial finance experience—bonus points for logistics, shipping, or Big 4 pedigree.
- Bonus tools in your kit? Experience with VBA, SQL, Power BI or similar platforms to build smart, scalable reporting solutions.
- A natural leader who flexes their style to connect across cultures and teams, earning trust and buy-in along the way.
- High energy, high impact—you're self-motivated, results-focused, and bring a strong sense of ownership to everything you do.
- You live and breathe Excel and PowerPoint, using data to create clear, persuasive stories that drive strategic action.
- A strategic thinker with razor-sharp analytical skills and a keen eye for detail—you see the patterns others miss.
- A true team player who thrives on collaboration and can build powerful partnerships across business functions.
- Hands-on and unafraid to dive into the details—whether it’s high-level strategy or invoice-level data, you're all in.
- Deadline-driven and adaptable—you perform at your best in fast-paced environments with ever-evolving priorities.
- Stellar communication skills—you can clearly explain complex concepts to senior execs or cross-functional teams with ease.
- A relationship builder—you foster trust and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
- A self-starter with entrepreneurial energy and urgency—you’re proactive, independent, and always ready to jump in.
- Confident engaging with senior leadership—you communicate with poise, credibility, and a clear point of view.
