Get to know the Team

The Platform Financials - FinOps team is an integral component of all teams providing the backend support of Grab’s incoming and outgoing financial transactions. These are done through various partners such as banks, payment gateways, and other financial institutions. The team also handles various types of stakeholder issues and ensures to resolve them in a timely manner. 

Get to know our role

The Platform Financial Operations Assistant Manager will perform a various array of tasks related to supporting Grab’s business activities in the payments space. The potential candidate should ideally possess the following traits:

  • Be a good communicator and able to comfortably engage in collaborative conversation since there will be frequent dealings with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Capable of approaching problem solving in a logical manner, as the candidate may be faced with analyzing various situations needing further investigation
  • Be a process oriented individual with a good grasp of controls as the candidate will be tasked to handle transactions that will ultimately only have one method of resolution but may not be apparently clear
  • Comfortable with handling and interpreting data as these may be needed in the resolution of various incidents
  • People Management: Experienced in managing a team and monitoring their activities, attendance, and productivity.

The day-to-day activities:

  • Reconciliation. Manages the reconciliation process, which includes cross-referencing internal records with reports from merchant partners and other financial institutions to spot any discrepancies
    • Discrepancy Identification: Proactively identify and investigate any discrepancies or irregularities in financial records, ensuring timely resolution to maintain data accuracy.
    • Settlement Management: Oversee the settlement process, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to resolve discrepancies promptly and efficiently
    • Reporting: Generate regular reports on reconciliation activities, financial discrepancies, and resolution status for management review
    • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including finance, accounting, and operations to ensure alignment and compliance with financial reconciliation processes and standards
  • Payment and Refund Dispute Management. Resolve disputes or discrepancies raised by passengers and merchants. This typically involves investigating the issue, communicating with all parties involved, and working towards fair and satisfactory resolution.
  • Process Improvement: Handle projects for process enhancements to optimize efficiency and accuracy


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proven experience in financial reconciliation, accounting, or related roles, with a strong understanding of financial principles and practices
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and solve complex problems
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and data integrity
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, Excel, and other data analysis tools
