We're looking for a Manager, Finance to join our Tokyo Finance team and play a key role in financial reporting, accounting oversight, controls, and stakeholder management.

Role Summary

As Manager, Finance, you will oversee management and financial accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong governance, and effective operational controls. Working closely with internal stakeholders and shared service teams, you will provide accounting insights, coordinate reporting processes, and support finance transformation initiatives.

You will also assess the impact of regulatory changes, business developments, and system enhancements on financial reporting and control frameworks.

About the Team

You will be part of the Finance function in Tokyo, working closely with regional finance teams, Head Office stakeholders, and ING Business Shared Services (IBSS). The team plays a critical role in delivering reliable financial information, maintaining strong controls, and supporting strategic decision-making across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

Management Accounting

  • Review and analyze management reports prepared by IBSS, including Deal-by-Deal reporting and monthly Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Risk Weighted Assets, and Headcount reporting.
  • Provide insights and recommendations from accounting and tax perspectives.
  • Manage data uploads for financial and risk reporting requirements.

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Review daily reconciliations and monthly accounting entries prepared by IBSS.
  • Oversee Head Office reporting and validate adjustments where required.
  • Respond to regulatory and reporting requirement changes.
  • Provide accounting guidance to stakeholders and business partners.

Accounts Payable & General Ledger Oversight

  • Review accounts payable schedules and related processes.
  • Oversee vendor payments and employee expense claims.
  • Review fixed asset, prepaid expense, and other general ledger entries.

Risk, Control & Governance

  • Lead finance risk and control activities in line with internal frameworks and regional guidance.
  • Perform annual account reviews and account rationalization exercises.
  • Support continuous improvement of reconciliation and control processes.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate reconciliation activities with shared service teams.
  • Prepare materials and minutes for ALCO meetings.
  • Support regulatory reporting, tax reporting, and other finance activities.
  • Drive process improvements and help assess the impact of new systems, business initiatives, and regulatory developments.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in financial accounting, management reporting, or finance control within banking or financial services.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
  • Experience working with shared service or offshore service delivery teams is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory and business changes and translate them into practical finance solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with a proactive and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Advanced Excel and financial reporting system knowledge preferred.
