The Role

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

The Manager - Finance supports the executive team by providing sound financial analysis, insights, and operational financial management, ensuring accurate reporting and effective control of the company’s financial activities. The role contributes to informed decision making by partnering with business leaders and supporting the implementation of the organisation’s financial strategy.
The role focuses on ensuring the financial profitability and sustainability of the organisation through strong financial administration, disciplined working capital management, and close monitoring of financial performance, identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
The Manager Finance operates under the guidance of the CFO: Bayobab and works closely with the Bayobab Finance team to execute financial plans, maintain robust financial controls, and support the delivery of business objectives.
 

Responsibilities

Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)

The Manager - Finance will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:
Financial Planning, Budgeting & Performance Monitoring
-    Support the preparation, consolidation, and tracking of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
-    Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts and prepare variance analyses
-    Produce monthly management accounts and performance reports with relevant commentary
-    Provide financial insights to support operational and management decision making
Financial Operations, Controls & Working Capital Management
-    Oversee day to day finance operations including AP, AR, GL, and cash management
-    Ensure timely month end close and accurate balance sheet reconciliations
-    Monitor and manage working capital, including cash flow and receivables
-    Maintain strong financial controls and compliance with internal procedures
Reporting, Compliance & Governance Execution
-    Ensure accurate and timely submission of management, statutory, and Group financial reports
-    Implement Group Finance policies, accounting standards, and governance requirements
-    Coordinate and support internal and external audits and resolve audit findings
-    Support tax, regulatory, and transfer pricing reporting in line with Group guidance
Stakeholder Support, Risk & Issue Management
-    Partner with internal stakeholders by providing financial analysis and operational finance support

-    Support business cases, CAPEX requests, and financial evaluations
-    Identify financial risks, implement mitigation actions, and escalate material issues to the CFO
-    Provide financial inputs for operational and governance forums as required
People Management & Continuous Improvement
-    Manage and develop direct reports through goal setting, coaching, and performance reviews
-    Build finance capability and ensure adequate skills coverage across core finance processes
-    Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls
-    Promote collaboration, accountability, and compliance within the finance team
 

Qualifications

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies) 

Education: 

-    Minimum of 4 years tertiary degree (B.Sc. Accounting / BCom Accounting, or a related discipline)
-    Professional qualification – CA (required)
-    Postgraduate qualification is advantageous

Experience: 

-    Minimum 5-8 years relevant experience in Finance Leadership position with at least 5 years in management role.
-    Experience in wholesale/infrastructure/B2B Telecommunications sector/ industry will be advantageous.
-    Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise with a good understanding of emerging markets.
-    Successful track record as a professional in delivering exceptional business growth & financial results.
-    Demonstrated track record as a relationship builder.
