FCO Transformation are partway through a considerable change journey to uplift our data and technology landscape to deliver to FC needs. We are investing heavily in building out centralised strategic data assets to deliver to numerous FC use cases supporting FC Operations. 

This is an important role in the Domain, which focuses on supporting delivery of business outcomes through deep domain expertise, detail -orientated problem solving, and outstanding people leadership founded on Distinctive Leadership principles. You know how to navigate business and data structures, processes and systems, helping data SMEs in the Domain connect the dots to inform their work. This role is a dual delivery in a squad or sub domain level (~50%) 
and people leadership (~50%) role to build the Data chapter capability.

The Data Manager may also assist with articulating requirements in complex regulatory or technical environments, with the ability to translate needs into understandable technical components on the backlog. You are proficient at creating high -quality artefacts which document processes, decisions, interactions and environments, as well as assisting others with trouble shooting and problem -solving technical data related issues.

Key Accountabilities

  • Allocation of Data SMEs and Technical BA resources to data incidents

  • Drive workforce planning for Data SMEs and Technical BAs including recruitment and retention strategies

  • Managing and remediating backlog of data quality incidents

  • Development of the Incident Management Data SME capability 

  • Utilising relationships that assist with dependency management

  • Assists with (i.e. not accountable for):

+ User access management strategies, governance documentation, UAT, CDT, DIA journey mapping feature specification templates (accountability – Product Owner)
+ Writing stories, simple requirement gathering, identifying risks/blockers/impediments (accountability - all squad members)
+ BIA, BRA, change management and training plan rollout (accountability - Change Leads)

  • Trusted advisor and SME in technical requirement elicitation for data/tech or reporting delivery

  • Partner with high priority data/tech deliverables across the FC portfolio to support accelerated delivery and issue resolution

  • Providing recommendations and solutions to problems, leveraging data analysis gathered

  • Clearly communicating and documenting data quality issues and the impact of these on outcome

Capabilities, Experience & Qualification Requirements

Essential capabilities

  • People leadership - able to lead with empathy, clarity and motivate teams

  • Data quality incident management prioritisation, root cause analysis and delivery

  • Drive capability performance and development

  • Decision quality – Data driven decision making, aligned to risk profiles and appetite

  • Problem solving – able to respond to propose solutions based on evidence, insight and viability

  • Communication and listening – Able to succinctly communicate relevant information and actively solicit and apply feedback

  • Data analysis & measurement – Able to collate, filter, analyse, and interpret datasets to produce insights and conclusions. Prior coding experience (SQL and Python) ideal. 

  • Intermediate knowledge of banking processes, systems and infrastructure

Experience

  • Previous experience leading high performing data teams

  • A strong understanding of data and technical concepts and familiar with NAB's data strategy 

  • Proven track record of managing data incidents and events

  • Knowledge of NABs data and technology landscape, including service teams, primary tech assets and types of data held within them

  • Demonstrated experience in triaging technical defects and working with others to resolve them

  • Experienced in preparing teams for technical releases

  • Proven record of managing within a regulatory environment, including compliance, obligations & scheme management

  • Experience in data/tech related agile delivery would be highly desirable 

Qualification Requirements
Bachelor degree in business, data analytics/ computer science, statistics or related discipline
