Job Description

INTRODUCTION:   

The ideal Accounting Manager, Expense has Software as a Service (SaaS) or payments industry accounting experience in a multi-entity, international company with exposure to in-house capitalized software, transfer pricing, mergers/acquisitions, and intercompany allocations. The Accounting Manager, Expense will be a critical driver of a continuous improvement culture and will have a hands-on approach to staff development. This position is expected to support team and Company initiatives proactively and enthusiastically, including process improvement and growth, in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment. This is a hybrid position requiring on-site presence in our Frisco office 1-2 days per week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Manage the month-end close process for expenses (including payroll accounting), debt, capitalized software, and fixed assets to produce high-quality financials, maintaining excellent communication with the Finance and leadership teams throughout, and coaching and guiding staff and senior accountants to improve work product
  • Partner with Accounts Payable on the month-end close process to minimize duplicate effort and rework
  • Partner with FP&A on flux analysis and financial reporting
  • Ensure all supporting documentation and backup for entries or accounting decisions is maintained
  • Review Balance Sheet reconciliation files and identify and resolve exposures
  • Perform flux analysis and obtain detailed understanding of transactions/activities recorded to accounts, ensuring proper accounting is being applied and providing variance explanations with business drivers
  • Facilitate documentation of all key procedures, processes, and key controls; establish continuity and cross-training across team to eliminate single points of failure
  • Partner with Accounting leadership on the annual external audit and provide high-quality, timely responses
  • Support M&A activities including diligence, integration, and purchase accounting.
  • Assist with tax-related duties and projects, including balance sheet reconciliations, PBC schedules for tax returns, and statutory audits
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting, primarily related to expenses and capitalized software
  • Assist with cash or banking analysis, needs and requirements
  • Assist in research of accounting guidance and implementation of such policies
  • Identify areas for improvement, including process or control weaknesses, communicate to management, and implement changes to enhance the control environment and mitigate risk.
  • This position is responsible for leading and developing 3-5 staff and senior accountants in multiple countries (US and Ireland)

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • B.S. or B.A. in Accounting or equivalent; Master’s preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in accounting, including General Ledger, Consolidations, and Balance Sheet reconciliation
  • 2+ years’ managing a high-functioning team
  • Thorough understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including identifying Cost of Service vs. Operating Expense
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Professional communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to make sound decisions and take calculated risks

AND IT'S GREAT TO HAVE:

  • Workday ERP experience
  • Experience understanding accounting system functionality and working with developers to optimize and/or create new functionality
  • CPA or equivalent certification
  • Experience with payment processing and/or software-as-a-service industries
  • Mergers & Acquisitions experience
  • Private equity background

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only and based on employees in the United States and may be different in other countries. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and location, as well as market and business considerations. Our pay range for U.S. based candidates for this position is $105,000 -- $125,000 USD annually. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and commissions.
