The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Manager oversees and coordinates the assessment, selection, and implementation of healthcare systems for our various clients. The EHR Manager leads efforts to optimize the EHR usage in existing contracts while working to build positive relationships with vendors.
Essential Duties:
• Acting as a point of contact for all EHR-related projects
• Traveling to sites during initial phases of EHR implementations while supporting all teams as necessary
• Working with vendors during facility assessments
• Working closely with the Clinical Operations Department to catalog and understand all forms required in EHR systems
• Researching/demoing and understanding various correctional EHR/Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Dental Record (EDR) systems
• Supporting all of the various company EHR/EMR and EDR systems, including working with the vendor on upgrades/enhancements, coordinating training for the team, and collaborating with external support vendors
• Leading efforts to optimize staff’s utilization of Clinical Technology via the EHR and identifying opportunities for clinical process improvements
• Creating and leading change committees for individual contracts while maintaining oversight as needed
• Functioning as the project manager and/or business analyst for other healthcare/clinical-focused applications such as scheduling systems, case management systems, or custom applications requested by programs to fill the gaps in current healthcare technology
• Improving existing EHR systems by studying current practices, workflows, and forms as well as suggesting modifications
• Researching emerging trends in healthcare innovation
• Working with contracts and operational and clinical leaders to analyze healthcare systems and develop reports and actions to ensure compliance with national regulations and company-defined parameters/goals
• Providing references for users by writing and maintaining user documentation
• Coordinating training for users
• Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies
• Representing both company and facilities externally and internally at trainings, presentations, and meetings as required
• Reviewing, interpreting, recommending, and implementing administrative polices relating to EHR processes that will ensure adherence to contract and regulatory requirements
• Identifying and resolving issues regarding EHR matters
• Evaluating administrative and operational EHR systems and services
• Bachelor's degree required
• Education or experience in clinical informatics, information technology, nursing or related fields
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience implementing Electronic Health Records (EHR), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Electronic Dental Records (EDR), and other healthcare-related systems
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a clinical environment
• Experience in a correctional healthcare environment preferred
• 1-2 years of experience in reviewing RFPs, helping with gathering information, and writing proposal response relating to EHRs
• Experience building and writing business cases for new EHR implementations
• Experience coordinating Pharmacy, Lab, and Radiology interfaces within the EHR system
• Experience working with secure FTP and file sharing platforms such as DropBox and Box
• Experience in data reporting and creating/running reports within and outside of the EMR system
• Knowledge of correctional/general healthcare standards such as HIPAA, ACA, HL7, ICD10, and environments preferred
• 1-2 years of Project Management experience
• Experience implementing projects for state agencies preferred
• Experience working with EHR vendors for pricing, support, and implementation
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree
- Education or experience in clinical informatics, information technology, nursing, or a related field
- At least five years of experience implementing EHR, EMR, EDR, and other healthcare-related systems
- At least five years of experience in a clinical environment
- Experience in a correctional healthcare environment
- One to two years of experience reviewing RFPs, gathering information, and writing EHR-related proposal responses
- Experience building and writing business cases for new EHR implementations
- Experience coordinating Pharmacy, Lab, and Radiology interfaces within an EHR system
- Experience with secure FTP and file-sharing platforms such as Dropbox and Box
- Experience in data reporting and creating or running reports within and outside an EMR system
