The DevSecOps Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of secure software delivery practices across Avnet’s global technology environment. This role bridges security, engineering, and infrastructure teams to embed security controls into CI/CD pipelines, enforce policy-driven automation, and ensure compliance with enterprise cybersecurity standards. The manager will drive platform standardisation, enhance developer experience, and align DevSecOps initiatives with Avnet’s broader security operations, vulnerability management, and monitoring capabilities.

What will you be doing?
As Manager, DevSecOps Engineering, you'll lead the strategy, delivery, and continuous evolution of Avnet's DevSecOps capabilities, helping to embed security into every stage of the software development lifecycle while enabling the business to innovate securely at scale.
Key responsibilities include:
Leadership and Team Development:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing DevSecOps engineering team aligned to enterprise security and delivery objectives
- Establish clear accountability models (RACI) across application, infrastructure, and security teams
- Drive a culture of secure-by-design engineering and continuous improvement
- Develop skill progression frameworks and competency matrices aligned to modern DevSecOps practices
DevSecOps Strategy and Execution
- Define and execute Avnet’s DevSecOps roadmap aligned with SSDLC standardization and platform consolidation
- Embed security controls into CI/CD pipelines, including SAST, SCA, IaC, and container security scanning
- Implement policy-as-code and pipeline enforcement mechanisms (e.g., blocking invalid dependencies)
- Align DevSecOps initiatives with enterprise risk reduction frameworks and exposure management processes
Platform Engineering and Automation:
- Lead the security consolidation and optimization of SCM and CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitHub, GitLab)
- Assist in designing reusable pipeline templates and secure engineering guardrails
- Drive automation across build, test, release, and security validation processes
- Integrate DevSecOps tooling with enterprise platforms (SIEM, SOAR, CMDB, vulnerability management)
Security Integration and Risk Management:
- Ensure alignment with Avnet security policies, including logging, monitoring, and incident response requirements
- Integrate telemetry from pipelines into centralized monitoring and detection systems
- Partner with security operations to improve detection coverage and response readiness
- Operationalize vulnerability prioritization and remediation workflows within development pipelines
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with DevOps, IT, and product development teams to ensure secure software development lifecycles (SDLC) and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on cybersecurity strategies, risks, and investment opportunities.
- Collaborate with third-party vendors to evaluate and integrate security technologies into the organization’s infrastructure.
- Train and educate employees across all departments on security best practices and emerging threats.
Strategic Planning and Innovation:
- Collaborate on a multi-year security roadmap, aligning with organizational priorities and technological advancements.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of security initiatives.
- Assist in managing the security budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for tools, personnel, and projects.
