The Role

ROLE TITLE: Manager, Development Operations

POSITION REPORTS TO: SMD, Development

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Priority deadline is January 5, 2025. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

LOCATION: Nevada or Phoenix preferred

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As the Manager of Operations on the Development Team, you play a key role in supporting field fundraisers, regional staff, and development team leaders in cultivating support from donors in our local communities who share our commitment to ensuring that all children have access to an equitable and excellent education.  In this role you will support 2-3 regional field teams in maximizing revenue from private and public funding sources, ensuring logistical and operational resources are efficiently and effectively managed to a high standard. You play a key role in executing donor engagement campaigns across the team, including events, solicitation outreach, and stewardship materials.

Reporting to the Vice President, Field Fundraising or SMD, Development, you will establish and manage systems that enable consistently strong execution of donor strategy across the field team. You will continually monitor and assess operational needs and opportunities for increased efficiency to make improvements.   We are looking for a true team player with an orientation to detail and passion for operations who can make a significant contribution across a local fundraising landscape. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Execute key strategies and workstreams for fundraising events and donor stewardship experiences (30%)

  • Own revenue collection systems, including invoicing processes (20%)

  • Establish and monitor systems to ensure strong data quality across the field team to ensure team members are making data-informed decisions (20%)

  • Establish and monitor knowledge management systems to capture best practices, facilitate collaboration, and maintain organizational records (15%)

  • In partnership with VP and SMDs, continually assess and adjust team-wide systems to ensure strong operations and division of labor across the team 10%)

  • Steward team and organizational initiatives (5%)

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • Team Operations

    • Exceptional attention to detail in short and long-term planning

    • Experience establishing operating plans for self and others to guide action

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a variety of internal and external constituents

    • Ability to manage up and laterally to influence development teammates in service of donor experience and team goals

  • Fundraising and Development

    • Have an understanding of best practices of development and fundraising

    • Contribute to fundraising and relationship management initiatives with a focus on cultivating donor experience

Prior experience

  • Required:  At least 2+ years of related experience in operations, preferably in development or fundraising

  • Required: Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform direction

  • Required: Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously with high level of personal responsibility

  • Required:  Track record of meeting and exceeding  ambitious goals

  • Preferred:  Teach For America experience

Work Demands

  • Occasional weekend or evening work hours required. 

  • Some travel to engage with local donors may be required

The Revenue and Development team at Teach For America inspires donors and champions to contribute to shaping the future of our country by investing in Teach For America’s work with students nationally and regionally.  We aim to source investments that fuel our work and impact with a revenue growth trajectory to raise $300 million annually.  This role will be an essential part of the Field Fundraising arm of the Revenue and Development team, maximizing the contributions of local donors across multiple regions of the country. 

YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Tier A: $55,700-74,500
