ROLE TITLE: Manager, Data & Operations (Full-Time)

LOCATION: Greater Chicago-Northwest Indiana  

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

The Manager, Operations & Data plays a critical role in ensuring strong operational execution across corps, alumni, network engagement, and public affairs priorities. This role reports jointly to the Vice President, External Affairs and the Vice President, Chief of Staff and serves as a key operational partner to both teams. 

You are highly detail-oriented and understand that disciplined systems management, clean data, and proactive follow-up are essential to member experience, external credibility, and cross-functional alignment. The ideal candidate thrives in structured environments, manages recurring compliance-driven processes with consistency, and communicates clearly to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met. 

Through rigorous data management, certification tracking, logistical coordination, and reporting, this role strengthens the corps experience, supports a smooth transition into alumnihood, and ensures our region maintains strong relationships with school districts, state, and national partners. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 

Member Compliance & Certification (15%) 

  • Manage and track corps member certification action items and follow through as they enroll with their graduate school partner, register their certificates, and work to be in good standing with the Illinois State Board of Education  

  • Manage and track corps member readiness for their summer Pre-Service training experience, including completion of info surveys and clearance of their background checks for teaching summer school  

  • Manage and track Ignite Fellow readiness for their tutoring placements, ensuring they complete their background check requirements  

Constituent Data Management (40%) 

  • Maintain accurate corps member, alumni, and external partner records through routine data collection, entry, quality checks, and annual cleanup efforts  

  • Drive completion of major corps and alumni milestone surveys, including response tracking, following up with constituents, and basic reporting  

  • Compile and share timely corps, Ignite, partner, alumni, and impact data for external reporting 

Network Engagement & Event Operations (25%) 

  • Coordinate logistics for member-facing and external events, including venue coordination, materials, catering, attendance tracking, and on-site execution. 

  • Ensure events are well-organized and professionally executed. 

  • Draft and publish routine corps-facing newsletters and communications  

Public Affairs Support (15%) 

  • Manage the VP of External Affairs' calendar and scheduling needs, coordinating meetings across internal and external stakeholders 

  • Conduct research and prepare briefing materials for high-stakes external partners, including the Illinois State Board of Education, Chicago Public Schools, and Illinois Legislature meetings 

  • Coordinate travel logistics for Springfield testimony and related public affairs engagements 

YOUR EXPERIENCE 

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):

  • At least 2 years of related experience required 

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and anticipation of needs 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Google Suite products, particularly Google Sheets  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to convey clear and concise expectations across diverse audiences  

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, track, and manage workflow and resources across evolving responsibilities. Prioritize workflows in a fast-paced environment with limited oversight.  

  • Displays and models a learning orientation, including one’s own personal identity. Open to ambiguity, adaptability, risk taking, and learning from failure in a constantly evolving context. 

Work Demands

  • Must be able to work ~2-3 evening events per month and one weekend event every other month.  

BONUS (preferred qualifications):

  • Experience working in the Greater Chicago education landscape  

  • Prior event management experience, including booking locations, catering, and managing day-of logistics

YOUR COMPENSATION 

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future. 

Tier B Hourly Rate: $29.23-$38.32
