Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Cyber Systems Engineering 2 to join our team of individuals within our Systems Engineering organization supporting the Multi-Domain Command & Control (MDC2) Business Unit. The position will be in Melbourne, FL. This leadership position will be full-time in the office with minimum travel.
Position Overview
The selected candidate will lead a team of up to 15 highly skilled technical professionals supporting cutting-edge defense and security systems. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with functional people leadership, contributing directly to mission-critical programs while developing and supporting engineering talent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Functional Management (20%)
- Support staffing strategy and requisition planning in collaboration with hiring teams.
- Conduct candidate selection, interviews, and approve hiring decisions.
- Manage career development, goal setting, performance reviews, and merit planning for direct reports.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and discipline when needed, to support team growth and performance.
- Facilitate access to tools, hardware, and resources needed for employee success.
- Deliver regular organizational updates and represent leadership across programs and teams.
- Technical Program Support (80%)
- Lead systems security engineering teams in the design, integration, and maintenance of mission driven cyber systems.
- Drive technical execution using best practices in systems security engineering, requirements development, automation, and cybersecurity design.
- Contribute to cybersecurity strategy and process improvement initiatives across environments.
- Maintains critical external customer contact to understand their technical needs.
- Manage Cost Account Management (CAM) and Risk Management activities, where applicable.
- Collaborate with peers and leadership to ensure optimized resource allocation and mission alignment.
- Support deployment pipelines using the Atlassian suite and other CI/CD toolsets.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 9?years of engineering experience – or a master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7?years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience leading technical projects or teams with schedule accountability.
- Extensive RMF, technology protection and scanning/remediation experience.
- A final, adjudicated Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret PAR as required by the program.
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise architectures including Windows Server, RHEL, virtualization, and storage technologies.
- Working knowledge of containerization, automation, and advanced network concepts.
- Hands-on experience with networking technologies from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, F5, and Ciena.
- Ability to create system security design and configuration diagrams using MBSE tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Top-Secret clearance.
- Previous or existing E 2 Program Access Request (PAR)
- Experience in cybersecurity environments and familiarity with development lifecycle principles.
- Prior success in recruiting and developing cyber systems engineering teams.
- Broad technical background across system security architecture, software development, Linux, Containerization, and Cyber Security.
- Proven ability to represent organizational capabilities to customers and stakeholders.
- Experience with U.S. Government contracts or defense systems.
- Graduate degree in STEM field.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
