Your Role:

As the Manager of Customs Compliance & International Logistics, you’ll arrange all international shipments and assure full compliance of all customs regulations and other legal requirements. This role involves analyzing and interpreting complex customs laws, managing customs documentation, arrange all aspects of international shipping, and working closely with internal teams, freight forwarders, and government agencies to facilitate smooth and compliant global trade operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of global customs regulations, and the ability to lead and support compliance initiatives across the organization

Key Responsibilities:

Customs Compliance:

  • Ensure that all import and export activities comply with applicable customs laws and regulations.
  • Monitor changes in customs regulations and update internal processes and documentation accordingly.
  • Classify products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensure proper application of duty rates.
  • Knowable about Free Trade Agreements.  
  • Manage and oversee the filing of required customs documentation, including entry summaries, commercial invoices, packing lists, and other required documents.
  • Broker and Surety Bond management.
  • Create Export Commercial Invoices.

International Transportation:

  • Create and manage International Shipping Process.
  • Arrange/Coordinate bookings to meet internal timing requirements (including final delivery).
  • Responsible for vendor selections and negotiation of rates.

Risk Management:

  • Conduct audits and assessments of customs entries and transactions to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address and resolve compliance issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and reports to track compliance performance and identify trends.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve customs compliance processes.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of customs operations.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on customs compliance best practices.

Vendor and Agency Relations:

  • Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure timely and compliant shipment processing.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and ensure they meet compliance requirements.
  • Represent the company in discussions with customs authorities and other regulatory bodies.

Documentation and Recordkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of all customs-related transactions.
  • Ensure all documentation is archived in accordance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to government agencies and company stakeholders.

Regulatory Knowledge:

  • Stay current on international trade regulations, including those related to import/export controls, sanctions, and trade agreements.
  • Provide expert advice on customs-related matters to internal teams and management, like tariff.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, International Trade, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs compliance, international trade, or logistics.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, including the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Importer Security Filing (ISF), and Free Trade Agreements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and make informed decisions.
  • Experience with customs brokerage operations and working knowledge of customs entry processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with customs compliance software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS).
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification. 

Working Conditions:

  •  Office environment with occasional travel to warehouses, ports, and customs offices.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Annual Salary Range:

($120K - $140K), plus benefits and incentive plans
